Brasstracks Deliver Chill New Soulful EP 'For Those Who Know Pt. 2'

brasstracks

The new Brasstracks EP is here! The Brooklyn-based duo has just delivered their groovy new EP, For Those Who Know Pt. 2, following up part one that dropped last year. The five-track release hones in on their distinct, funky brass sound while continuing to pull from genres such as hip-hop, alternative, and electronic. For Those Who Know Pt. 2 covers the spectrum with music ranging from deep, soulful orchestral arrangements to bouncy, energetic jams.

While we have been given a taste of the EP from its two singles, “Stay There” featuring Xavier Omär and “Too Far Too Fast” with Thirdstory, the other three tracks accompany them perfectly and flesh out the EP. As with Brasstracks’ previous “Improv #1,” “Improv #2” starts the EP with a bang with Robert Glasper again lending his piano and production talents and previous collaborators S’natra and Thirdstory laying down smooth vocals for the verse and chorus. Things heat up on “Moments,” a banging instrumental jam that sees Brasstracks incorporating bright organ keys and a fat synth bassline. “I’ll Sing About You” slows it down for a cinematic ballad wish spacey horns and reverberating choir vocals, lulling us into a dream as the journey comes to an end.

For Those Who Know Pt. 2 offers a captivating look at the world of Brasstracks. The EP successfully showcases their talents and the versatility of their sound. We are grateful to continue to be a part of this journey and look forward to what else Brasstracks have in store. Enjoy!

Brasstracks Deliver Soulful & Funky New Single "Too Far Too Fast" Ft. Thirdstory Off EP

brasstracks too far too fast

Brasstracks have proven yet again why they are one of our favorite duos in the game with today’s release. The pair have teamed up with fellow New York-based act Thirdstory on their new track “Too Far Too Fast”. This follows up Brasstracks’ “Stay There” featuring Xavier Omär as the second single off their forthcoming EP For Those Who Know Pt. 2.

Per usual, Brasstracks kill it on the brass and instrumental sections of “Too Far Too Fast” as triumphant horns unite and accompany smooth vocals and additional instrumentation from Thirdstory. Tight percussion, spacey piano chords, and funky bass round out the track with stripped-down sections contrasting the powerful, high-energy choruses. Brasstracks and Thirdstory continue in this fashion, creating a groovy atmosphere that feels both forward-thinking and nostalgic. Check it out below, stay tuned for more details on the upcoming EP, and enjoy!

PREMIERE | Rickyxsan & Hyraulix Combine On Heavy New Bass Single "UNDRGRND"

rickyxsan hydraulix

Rickyxsan and Hydraulix have come together once again to give us today’s bangin’ premiere “UNDRGRND”. The pair last collaborated nearly a year ago on their high-energy Never Say Die release “Sleep”, which we premiered here. Now “UNDRGRND” sees the two heavy-hitters maintain this same energy while adding an even grittier feel for this bass-heavy trap tune.

Distorted vocals and subtle synths lead to a machine-like buildup with a robotic countdown and upbeat percussion. Rickyxsan and Hydraulix drop it with squelching cyborg synths that penetrate our speakers as the deep bass pushes through below. The duo come back full force with a second drop, laying out a fat, dirty bassline complete with gritty wobbles and compact, gliding synth notes. This marks the second Never Say Die collaboration for Rickyxsan and Hydraulix, and we hope it’s not the last. Check it out below and enjoy!
