Top 15 Mixtapes/ Free Albums of 2010

Mixtapes and freely distributed albums are one of the best way an artist can get their music out to a mass amount of people. Some mixtapes are  so-so, and others just blow you away. Some are so good it’s hard to believe they are free. and that’s why every single one of these artists are blowing up so fast. 2010 had a huge amount of quality mixtapes/ free albums, and it was hard, but I’ve picked the 15 best, and a few honorable mentions because it was too hard to pick just 15. Now all of these albums are amazing, and if you haven’t heard them definetely download it and check it out. I’ve also picked one of my favorite tracks off each one  to give you a sampling. Here’s one of the sickest new party remixes I’ve heard in awhile, freshly dropped off to me by the Disco Fries. Their the guys who remixed Ambiguous ft. Mike Posner and Like A G6 They took the hip-hop track ‘Turn Around’ by Flo Rida and turned it into a serious party BANGER! It’s dance friendly, and also drops the bass hard. Crystal Castles – Baptism (Dark Sky Symphony Megatron Remix): Sick Electro Indie BANGER

So a lot of you have heard the indie/electronic group Crystal Castles, but some haven’t. I’ve only posted a mashup, and a song with Audiodax rapping over them, but never a remix or an original. Here’s one of my favorite remixes, and it’s of the song ‘Baptism’, and it’s remixed by a hilarious named Dj, Dark Sky Symphony Megatron. The name is hilarious, and the remix is too sick. This is one that you should definetely bump the bass to, and it’s a BANGER. It’s definetely got that indie vibe, but it also should apeal to a larger audience with the added bass. Now don’t judge this song right away if you hate Enrique, this is full fledged house BANGER. Chuckie worked his dutch house magic on the pop hit featuring Ludacris and Dj Frank E. He reworks pop hit’s into club bangers regularly like with I Like It (Chuckie remix) and Rock That Body (Chuckie Remix) among others. This song requires mass amounts of bass, and some energetic people to fully appreciate it. I’ve been getting some more requests for house/electro bangers, so I’ll be sure to keep them coming. Massive Attack – Paradise Circus (Zeds Dead Remix): BANGER Dubstep Remix

Today I’ve got such a sick BANGER remix. It’s from the Toronto heavy bass hitters Zeds Dead who I’ve thrown up their collab with Omar Lynx ‘Out For Blood’, as well as White Satin, and you can’t forget the epic Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix). This song, a remix of Massive Attack’ ‘Paradise Circus’, is just as sick as the others, if not sicker. They take on a very chill song, and make itt a massive BANGER. Deadmau5 – Limit Break: SICK NEW ELECTRO BANGER

Deadmau5 has become a houshold name practically, with his MTV apearance and his massive global fanbase. I love almost everything he does, and he through one of the sickest DJ sets I’ve ever seen at Beta a few months ago. Today I’ve got a track he dropped through his facebook earlier today. It’s called ‘Limit Break’ and he said he’s giving it away because he’s going to be busy for the holidays. The song reminds me of some of his older stuff, the same way the Can’t Behave Myself did as well. It’s still a sick new Deadmau5 track, a little glitchy and weird sounding, but still sick, turn up the bass and enjoy!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – My Oh My: Sick New Chill Hip-Hop

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have become some of the site’s favorite artists, with The Unplanned Mixtape and The V.S. EP making there way to some of the most downloaded mixtapes. They are finally back with a brand new single. and this time it’s inspired by a Seattle Mariners announcer, Dave Niehaus. As Macklemore says

“I understand that many people might not know Dave Niehaus…. I get it. But I believe that as musicians, it’s our responsibility to pay homage to the people that made us who we are.”

This song has an very execelently produced beat compliments of Ryan Lewis, and great vocals from Macklemore. The song is chill, makes you relate to Macklemore, even if your not a Mariners fan, or baseball fan for that matter. This duo is great at capturing feelings. Chris Webby – Best in the Burbs: Real Sick Hip-Hop Mixtape

Chris Webby, one of the more notable white east coast rappers has dropped what could be his best mixtape yet. It’s got a lot more of a serious tone then The White Noise LP and others, yet still has that Webby wit. Featured on the mixtape is Problem (Ft. Big K.R.I.T.) posted earlier. This mixtape seriously sounds like an album. I’ve already listened to it a few times since it dropped. Webby fans will go crazy for it, and if you don’t know who he is, or weren’t a fan before, you might be now. Not sure what got into Webby, but he delivers on this mixtape. I’ve picked out a few of my favorite tracks, but it was really hard as the whole thing is sick. Download it all and enjoy!

So if you like Deadmau5 or Wolfgang Gartner you certainly remember their collaboration ‘Animal Rights’ which was an instant club classic. Here’s an insane BANGER remix I am stoked to post. It’s of the hit song ‘Night by Night’ by Chromeo, and it’s remixed by Denver based DJ Project Aspect. We had the pleasure of having Project Aspect open for our PANTyRAiD concert a few weeks back. Here’s a real sick brand new song from Deadmau5, where he goes in a suprising direction. This songs remind me more of his older chiller stuff like Strobe, and less like his new insane BANGERS like off 4 x 4 = 12. In this chilled out new Deadmau5 track he collaborates someone new Neon Hitch. She’s an artist with a crazy past. She’s been a traveling street performer with her parents since a child, and has help write songs for Ke$ha and 3Oh!3 among others. Her debut album is coming out on Warner Bros. in January, so big things are ahead for her. I definitely like her voice and look forward to hearing more. Enjoy!
