Childish Gambino – Freaks and Geeks: Too Sick New Rap Song

Posted in Chill by nick | Tags: , , ,

Earlier this week I posted a Brenton Duvall remix featuring Childish Gambino , (also known as Donald Glover, or ‘Troy’ on Community), and you guys loved it. I’ve had countless readers tell me that I really need to post some Childish Gambino and for some reason I just was never sold on the guy, but that’s all changed. His latest single he’s dropped in spirit of his upcoming mixtape is by far one of the sickest rap songs I’ver heard awhile. It’s got a real chill, calm,  indie-esque beat, that’s a mixture of a movie soundtrack and a hip-hop beat combined together for a really unique fresh feel. He absolutely slays this song with his lyricism and flow. The first time listening to it it was like the first time I heard some old Lil Wayne, as far as being blown away by the lyricism and flow. I’ve listened to this song at least 20 times in the last couple days since it dropped, and now I’ve watched the music video countless timed as well. I’m really interested to hear who of you is already down with the Gambino, and who’s digging him after this track? Check this out and enjoy!

I’m loving Childish Gambino. After hearing that Brenton Duval mashup featuring him I went out and dl’ed his album. Shit is solid, and he’s only getting better. His EP drops on March 8 (featuring this song and a couple of others) and I highly recommend everyone check it out.

Ever since you dropped the first Gambino, which was solid , I’ve been trying to get into his shit. I wasn’t really digging all of the stuff I heard on Youtube but then I heard this song. I’m reallllllly enjoying it. The lyricism is topnotch and his flow is gold. I’m glad this beat kills it too, since I think that was turning me off to his other shit.

I only hope the whole mixtape is this ill.

yo everyone needs to A. hop off Wayne’s dick and B. not bring him up in every damn hip hop song/video. he had skill yes carter 2 was great never gunna say a bad thing about it, but Wayne has fallen off

  • Tim

his style is great, i love his flow. he just needs to clean up his lyrics. it’s one thing to rap about your success with women and money, but these lyrics are just pretty vulgar.

  • John

“I’m runnin’ this bitch / you just a dog walker.”

    GREAT!

No one ever mentions that Lil Wayne uses Ghostwriters. Oh and he can’t freestyle worth a damn.

When I moved to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder I got exposed to some of the sickest music around. My name is Nick Guarino and I love music and especially showing people new music. Making mix cd's for friends my whole life led to the founding of Thissongissick.com with which I hope to broaden everyone's musical taste beyond the radio. There is a large amount of freely distributed music that far too little people know about. This site showcases and debuts some of best up and coming as well as already established artists, rappers, DJ's, producers and more. Through the process TSIS has found it self focusing on exposing the electronic and hip hop music scenes. Check out some music you've never heard, I'm sure you'll find some songs that are pretty sick. Enjoy!
