Jason Falkner – Only You (Zeds Dead Remix) : Sick Filthy Dubstep Remix

Posted in Bangin by nick | Tags: , , , ,

Zeds Dead continue to get bigger and bigger, and every single song that drop sounds so different from the last one. Out for Blood, White Satin, and Eyes on Fire (Zeds Dead Remix) are a few of my favorite from them. I haven’t haven’t posted any Zeds in awhile, and this track just got re-released so what better timing. This Canadian duo took Jason Falkner’s ‘Only You’ and made it into a bass filled anthem. The synth/bass line that drops after the beginning almost gave me chills it was so sick the first time I heard it. Zeds Dead is going to be coming to The Ogden in Denver, CO this Friday and myself (Nick G.) and Sage B. Ragin are going to be opening up for them. Check out the facebook event for more info. It’s going to a bass filled night. Check out this vicious remix and enjoy!

Yo nick I’d love to hear some of your own stuff sometime, itd be sick if you posted a track

  • JD

He has posted some of his own stuff. He’s in the group that goes by the name of Sorry For Partying

  • My 2 cents

I Wouldn’t consider this to be filthy dubstep by any means. ZD typically is mellow and calm dubstep, however an example showcasing elements of grime of filth would be listening to Rude Boy and not the remix with Omar Linx. The remix is good too but you can’t listen to the instrumentals as well. The song itself has a very calm feel to it as well and I still would have a hard time classifying it as filthy dubstep, however it has more of the elements than this song incorporates. If you really want some filth listen to excision, datsik, downlink, cookie monsta, borgore, funtcase, trolley snatcha just to name a few bigger well known names. I like the song and for you spreading the it, but like I’ve said before on previous comments please try and label songs correctly otherwise your coming off as misleading and unknowledgable or your misinforming those unfamiliar with the genre, and still seeming unkowledgable. At least your getting away from titling everything as a BANGER. Sorry if it seems like im smashing on ya, I appreciate what your doing just small reocurring titles and mislabels are annoying.

I really think this aint Swedish House Mafia style, they be a bit more hardcore and heavy on the beat.

  • Poon

    Not filthy at all.

  • Rational Thinking

@ My 2 cents & Poon: What is ‘Filth’ if not – apart from the name of the electronic music producer – an arbitrary adjective used to describe a song, in the same way one might declare a song as ‘Dirty’, or ‘Sick’. The many, and increasingly numerous genres of electronic music are so new and dynamic that at this time it is impossible to establish distinctive borders where one genre ends and another begins. The quality of the music is independent of the genre label that so many people seem utterly preoccupied with placing on the song. For example, many of the songs that Skrillex releases contain samples of so many diverse and unique genres, that I doubt even he could label them by a genre that would receive consensus from every listener. That being said, almost every listener can agree that the music he produces is ‘Enjoyable’, ‘Awesome’, ‘Sick’, ‘Dirty’, or even – dare I say it – ‘Filthy’.

I wish that Nick correct me if I am wrong, but the fact that he referred to this song the way he did is more a description of the quality of the song, rather than the specific style or genre. It would appear that Nick has recognized the fact that it would be so difficult (not to mention unnecessary) to categorize each song in a different, individual sub-genre that he has taken to a more general categorization. The terms ‘Banger’ and ‘Chill’ function excellently to separate the songs which are party worthy, and those which are more appropriate for relaxing to.

Rather than attack Nick about miniscule details of the methods by which he presents the music of this website, we should celebrate and thank him for bringing wonderfully produced music to our ears.

    @Rational Thinking

There is no doubt that other artists cross boundaries and incorporate different elements of music such as Skrillex as you noted. There is no doubt that different peoplehave contrasting views as to what they feel is filthy, but in the bigger picture filthy has a connotation and connection to certain music styles, i.e. genres. I’m not trying to bash on the OP im just trying to make suggestions for the site. Artists self promote themselves as “filthy” and the connotation sticks as it gains association between adjective and music. Thats why genres themselves are somewhat difficult and always controversial, however if your going to post songs and give them titles then do so accordingly as to identify with the current standard for labeling. I’m positive you would be upset or caught if you clicked on a song that was labeled hip hop but instead came across a free verse poem. You get what im saying? Labels themselves ultimately yes are meaningless, however they serve a purpose in help people understand what they are getting themselves into beforehand. Sorry to the OP if this seems harsh and all the comments and advice arent hugs and kisses, just trying to give some constructive critisim.

  • You know who ;)

everyone’s just gotta relax.. this song is off the chain!

I’d even go so far to say this song’s Reenin ;)

When I moved to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder I got exposed to some of the sickest music around. My name is Nick Guarino and I love music and especially showing people new music. Making mix cd's for friends my whole life led to the founding of Thissongissick.com with which I hope to broaden everyone's musical taste beyond the radio. There is a large amount of freely distributed music that far too little people know about. This site showcases and debuts some of best up and coming as well as already established artists, rappers, DJ's, producers and more. Through the process TSIS has found it self focusing on exposing the electronic and hip hop music scenes. Check out some music you've never heard, I'm sure you'll find some songs that are pretty sick. Enjoy!
