Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers Release “Butterfly Effect” as New Supergroup Clockwork Indigo

flatbush-zombies-the-underachievers

The supergroup comprising of Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers was bound to come together sooner or later. Both of these rap groups come out of the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn, and rep the Beast Coast movement alongside Joey Bada$$ and his Pro Era collective.

The groups have joined forces as the 5 man super group Clockwork Indigo and have dropped off their first song “Butterfly Effect”. Production from Eric Arc Elliot evokes the perfect eerie vibes as a shrill, crackly loop sets the tone on the seven-minute beat as the five rappers trade some unruly verses.

[TSIS PREMIERE] Listen To The Infectious Future Bass Remix of Viceroy & Penguin Prison’s “The Life” From StéLouse

Posted in Chill, Premieres by Jake | Tags: , , , , ,

The Life

StéLouse, a new alias of Denver, Colorado experimental electronic producer Ross Ryan, has taken the reigns of Viceroy and Penguin Prison's summer-time jam "The Life" and reproduces a stunning flip.  StéLouse evokes the same tropical vibes and tempo from the original even though he's stripped the guitar riff, synths, and horns from the creation. Adding a delightful combination of echoing, pitched down vocal samples with bouncing chimes and deep, quivering synths has brought a new round vibe to the track. Enjoy the exclusive premiere of the stream below and lookout to pick up your copy through iTunes September 23rd. Enjoy!

Chilidsh Gambino aka Donald Glover out of nowhere just dropped the first single "Sober" from his upcoming Kauai Mixtape (artwork below). The rapper who has rose to one of the most exciting names in the every expanding hip-hop world never seems to dissappoint with this far out, extra trippy ballad. The light electronic grittiness and contrasting keys and light drums acts as a raw canvas that Gambino manages to light up with some singing that will have you humming along. It's a change of pace from what we can expect. Enjoy!

ODESZA Album “In Return” Is A Contender For Album Of The Year : Review + Album Stream

Posted in Album Review, Bangin, Chill by Bryan | Tags: , , ,

artworks-000090523590-tykdfk-t500x500

Using their production talents alone, emerging Seattle-based duo ODESZA have proved themselves a no "flash in the pan" act after a string of chilled out releases including a remix of Pretty Lights "Lost and Found", their "My Friends Never Die" EP and a remix of Zhu's "Faded" plus a supporting role on Pretty Lights nationwide "A Color Map of the Sun" tour last year. Since then, the guys have embarked on spreading their music to the masses at various festivals and series of soldout headliner shows while finding time to work on their debut album titled In Return. ODESZA's truly unique blend of infectious soulful vibes, future bass aesthetics, what you could call chill trap elements, on top of endless supply of organic live instruments are all on display for an album that shines bright and dares to inspire ones creativity. This will guaranteed be a trendsetter amongst the growing future bass genre world.

Gifting listeners with 13 singles on this release, the album transitions through a fascinating array of future sounding elements with even greater influences within the bass spectrum on display. The opening tracks are completely cinematic in design and have a tranquil flow to them that is relaxing yet engaging at the same time. The soulful foundation created on "All We Need" for Shy Girls to lay down a lush set of vocals is a thing of beauty as a series of melodic keyboard sections, wooden blocks, and cleaver bass twists leave a lasting imprint on the audible senses. We are also gifted with one of the strongest tracks on the record "Say My Name" featuring singer Zyra which got brough to life with a very impressive music video paying an ode to the movie Mullholland Drive. This brings me to ODESZA's use of amazing vocalists on this album; each track boasting an emerging singer / songstress had me consistently wondering how did they collect such a strong cast of vocal talent? The remainder of the release continues to enchant listeners leading all the way up to the albums very first single "Sun Models", which has become my personal anthem of the summer due to its top notch production that oozes in feel good vibes from start to finish.

ODESZA have perfected the art of creating superior musical compositions, with In Return being everything I had anticipated since we first heard the news of the duo producing an album. We are already seeing the start of what we can expect to be a long string of remixes from the project, and rightfully so. Listen to the full stream of the album below and pick up your copy through iTunes. Enjoy!

The daunting task of remixing a Flume and Chet Faker song has prevented many from taking on the duties, but booming New York producer Sweater Beats has pulled off quite the magnificent feat with his latest remix. The chilled out single "Drop The Game" from Flume and Chet's highly acclaimed Lockjaw EP is given a gritty yet melodic future bass overhaul to Sweater Beats creative implantation. Prolonging the violin sample to include a new powerful synth pattern and accenting the euphoric bass bursts makes this remix a great listen and possibly even better than the original. Sweater Beats is passing this remix out as a free download and will be hitting the road this fall alongside Chance the Rapper for a string of college shows that culminates with a performance at this years Day of The Day put on by Hard Events. Check out the dates below and above all… Enjoy

Listen to Tycho’s Relaxing Sunrise Set from Burning Man

Posted in Chill, Mix / Playlist by Jake | Tags: , ,

tycho

This year, Burning Man took place August 25th through September 1st at Black Rock City, located in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. Burning Man is much more than a music festival; it's a gathering of over 60,000 "Burners" for 8 wild days. Although I have never been, Burning Man is a very community-based event in which everything is created by attendees with a leave no trace policy. Among other creations, towering wooden sculptures are built and then burned in a massive celebration.

Tycho's sunrise set time of 5:40 am sounds like a perfect time slot due to his relaxing, laid-back sound. This DJ set lasting over 2 hours delivers a diverse combination of originals, remixes, and an array of tunes from other artists. Tycho's ambient style is apparent in this mix as the selection of mostly mellow house tracks reflect the musical style Tycho offers.
