Snowglobe Music Festival 2011 Official Recap (Video) : Incredible Must See Video Edit

Posted in Bangin, Chill, Video by nick | Tags: ,

So you guys probably remember either going or seeing us talk about Snow Globe Music Festival, the very cool new festival that we sponsored that took part in Lake Tahoe, CA on New Year’s weekend. The festival featured a huge stack of artists from Pretty Lights and Bassnectar to Childish Gambino and Theolphilus London. It was from the same people who brought you the other winter festival Snow Ball in Vail, and they know how to create a really great party. With the rise in popularity of electronic music, you see a lot more DJ’s and electronic acts filling up festivals, which is great, but it’s also very needed to keep a good balance of other music like hip hop, jam, or indie to create a more balanced time… The video really shows the balance of the festival which took in over 30,000 people, as well as the highs and lows of the festivals, from the care free mornings to the raging bass filled nights.

This video was done by Cinesthetics, the crew that’s done our Wolfgang Gartner in Boulder, 2 Night Zeds Dead Run, and Avicii at Red Rocks videos, just to name a few. We love his work so were stoked to see what he came up with for this festival. This end result is possibly one of the best concert / festival recaps I’ve ever seen. It feel like watching a movie, as it shifts from timelapses of the scenery and setup of the stage, to the journey to and from the festival grounds, and everywhere in between. It let’s those who couldn’t make it live a piece of it. Turn on HD, let it load, full screen, enjoy! Also I was lucky enough to throw down a set at this year’s festival, (see my cameo complete with TSIS sticker at 1:32)

Mac Miller – Dig That (ft. Cam’ron (Prod. by Big Jerm) : Chill New Hip Hop

Posted in Chill by nick | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

So, I think most of us can agree, Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park was a little underwhelming, especially because he genereated more buzz then any rapper on their own ever. Well we get some fresh new Mac Miller, teaming up with Cam’ron, and Big Jerm on the beat. It’s got a laid back hip hop feel with a classic vibe. Big Jerm kills it with the production of the beat, with a retro sample vibe. Both Cam and Mac throw down some solild smooth flows. Chill, enjoy!

Posted in Bangin, Chill, Events, Video by nick | Tags: , , ,

Alright a ton of you already have know about this guy for years, but for those unaware, I’d like to introduce you to Dirt Nasty, an outrageous rapper from the Bay Area in California. The only way to explain his style of rapping, is that it’s almost got a little Dave Chappelle influence, and I say that in the best way possible. He’s a sick rapper, with a comical swag unlike any I’ve ever heard. This track and music video “1980″ is hilarious, and so catchy, by the end of it you’ll be dancing and singing along, no matter if your appalled or not. It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever heard, it’s hilariously awesome. Enjoy!

Super Mash Bros. – ¡Holy Guacamole! : New Electronic / Hip Hop Mashup

Posted in Bangin, Chill by nick | Tags: , , ,

Today I’ve got a new track from California based Super Mash Bros. There one of the bigger names in the mashup area, under Girl Talk. Well this first track shows that they’ve never lost their fantastic mashup skills. This is the first track off an upcoming Mile(y) High Club coming out soon. Like I’ve said before, there’s far too many mediocre mashup artists out there due to how easy it is to slap two tracks together, but actually making a good mashup like this one, does take skill. Turn it up, enjoy!

Tarik – Know Her Name (Music Video) : Chill Hip Hop Song + Video

Posted in Chill, Video by nick | Tags: , , , , , ,

Today I’ve got a new music video for a chilled out track from Tarik, the Brooklyn based rapper. It’s off his T.R.I.G.S. Mixtape, which featured one of my favorite tracks of his  ‘Weatherman’. He’s a newcomer who’s got a mellow style the combines some singing and rapping, for a great blend. This track has a great mixture of his singing and rapping. It’s got chill chorus that works well with a acoustic guitar powered beat that has  summer vibe. The video is great done by Jon Kilmer. Check it out, chill, enjoy!

Pretty Lights – We Must Go On : Must Hear New Electronic / Hip Hop Single + Video

Posted in Bangin, Chill, Video by nick | Tags: , , , , , ,

It still blows my mind how big Pretty Lights has gotten in the few years, and for all the right reasons. You’ve heard his amazing albums, all given away for free, and some of his epic remixes. His last single that he put out ‘I Know the Truth’ sent his listeners thinking he was going in a more bass fueled heavier direction, well today we hear that he’s still maintaining his downtempo side. This track ‘We Must Go On’ reminds me of his earlier stuff with the sample based vibe. Now I know Derek has been working with a ton of musicians throughout the country, so the samples used in the track are most likely recorded instead of taken from old vinyl. I love the PL vibe that shines through every track, it’s almost electronic music with a hip hop vibe. This track comes complete with a new video as well filmed and edited by Derek and girlfriend Krystle. Check it out, chill, enjoy!

Gym Class Heroes – Ass Back Home (Ft. Neon Hitch) (Brenton Duvall Remix) : Must Hear Chill Rap / Indie / Electronic Remix

Posted in Bangin, Chill by nick | Tags: , , , , , ,

Today I’ve got the latest catchy remix from Brenton Duvall. For those unfamiliar, he’s the guy who made a few of the most popular tracks on the site, like his Gucci Mane remix,  his Taylor Swift vs Wiz Khalifa remix, or his track Lights! (Ft. Ellie Goulding, Waka Flaka). He made a real funky sounding electronic beat with a sample from PantyRaid, then using some vocals from Gym Class Heroes and Neon Hitch. The result is another signature catchy track that works well for any hour of the day. Check it out, chill, rage, enjoy!

Logic – Young Sinatra III (Music Video) : Must Hear New Hip Hop Song + Video [TSIS PREMIERE]

Posted in Chill, Video by nick | Tags: , , , ,

Today I’ve got the latest brand new single from Logic, the amazingly talented newcomer who dropped my favorite mixtape from last year, Young Sinatra. I couldn’t wait to hear some new Logic, and this new track Young Sinatra III is defintely worth that wait. Following up Young Sinatra II (also posted below) this track has got a great beat, and some insane lyricism from Logic like always. I love how he talks about real shit that makes you wanna keep listening, rather then most mindless lyrics in most rap songs. Logic said once the video gets a certain amount of downloads he’ll send us the mp3 to throw out. This post got updated with the mp3, download and listen everywhere. Enjoy!

When I moved to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder I got exposed to some of the sickest music around. My name is Nick Guarino and I love music and especially showing people new music. Making mix cd's for friends my whole life led to the founding of Thissongissick.com with which I hope to broaden everyone's musical taste beyond the radio. There is a large amount of freely distributed music that far too little people know about. This site showcases and debuts some of best up and coming as well as already established artists, rappers, DJ's, producers and more. Through the process TSIS has found it self focusing on exposing the electronic and hip hop music scenes. Check out some music you've never heard, I'm sure you'll find some songs that are pretty sick. Enjoy!

We offer songs here to showcase new music, not to steal from artists. Please support the artists by purchasing tickets to see them live in concert and music they have for sale! If anyone would like their song taken down, please notify us through E-Mail.
