Louis-Futon-Silk-Kill-Paris-remix-artwork

We’ve seen Louis Futon establish quite the buzz from their string of remixes over the past few months, like Wiz Khalifa, Logic and Mos Def among others. The duo has a self-titled EP set to release soon and first previewed the song “Sir Rock” a few weeks back. They have enlisted LA to Boulder transplant producer Kill Paris to deliver a fresh remix to their unreleased original “Silk”. The result is nothing short of incredible; Kill Paris chopped up and rearranged all the future bass and chilled out trap elements for a soulful piece of joy. This might be one of my favorite remixes I have ever heard from Kill Paris and is is apart of the Louis Futon EP coming out next month! We are gifted with a free download to make it even better, so listen below and pick up a free download now. Enjoy!

J. Cole Releases Powerful New Song “Be Free” In Response to Michael Brown

Posted in Chill by nick | Tags: ,

J. Cole - Be Free

So we are a music blog, not a news website, so it felt a little weird reporting on the tragic killing of the unarmed man by a police officer and surrounding events happening in Ferguson, Missouri, yet when J. Cole, a rapper who we've featured extensively on our site decides to release a song dedicated solely to it, it felt even worse not reporting on the subject.

If you are unaware of what is happening please direct yourself to someone qualified like Huffington Post or New Yorker.

J. Cole delivers this new song "Be Free" which his a quite a powerful 4 minute ballad over a simple piano line that couldn't set the mood anymore right. We hear an unbelievably passionate sounding Cole on the break of tears simply fed up with the corrupted actions of his country.

Here is a statement from J. Cole himself to go with the song touching on "tired of being desensitized to the murder of black men."

There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Every chance I got I was screaming about it. I was younger. It's so easy to try to save the world when you're in college. You got nothing but time and no responsibility. But soon life hits you. No more dorms, no more meal plan, no more refund check. Nigga need a job. Nigga got rent. Got car note. Cable bill. Girlfriend moves in and becomes wife. Baby on the way. Career advances. Instagram is poppin. Lebron leaves Miami. LIFE HITS. We become distracted. We become numb. I became numb. But not anymore. That coulda been me, easily. It could have been my best friend. I'm tired of being desensitized to the murder of black men. I don't give a fuck if it's by police or peers. This shit is not normal. I made a song. This is how we feel.

Rest in Peace to Michael Brown and to every young black man murdered in America, whether by the hands of white or black. I pray that one day the world will be filled with peace and rid of injustice. Only then will we all Be Free.

Thomas Jack, a TSIS favorite who we have developed a partnership with for the Tropical House mixtape series and featured over the past year, has some exciting news. Thomas is officially coming back to the U.S.!! He is going to be supporting Kygo on his sold out Endless Summer Tour for most of the dates, but he had the idea up his sleeves to take over Webster Hall for a headline show and we are happy to announce that has become a reality and happy to have been able to team up to make this happen as we are huge fans of Tom and the tropical movement. He will be taking over Webster Hall in New York City on September 26th right after supporting two sold out Kygo shows at Bowery Ballroom and MHoW. Hotel Garuda is going to be kicking the night off right and keeping the tone extra sunny throughout the entire show. Pre-sale tickets for this show sold out in under a hour early this week and general on sale will be going on sale 15 minutes from this post going live at 12pm EST.
