Though much has changed over the years as our Boulder, Colorado friends Big Gigantic have grown in popularity, their specialty of producing timeless bass infused electro-soul / funk music that pays homage to jam band roots has only increased with experience. Producer and Saxophone player Dominic Lalli has left nothing behind as he delivers the groups' fifth studio album The Night Is Young hours before embarking on a massive winter tour alongside live drummer Jeremy Salken. The easily digestible album consists of eight tracks for the masses to bust the proverbial groove to whether it be listening amongst yourself or experiencing their legendary live shows. Outside of Big Gigantic's two singles "Touch The Sky" and "The Night Is Youg ft. Cherub" released leading up to the album, "Blue Dream" might take the claim as our favorite track on the album; capturing that signature funky soulful side of Big Gigantic with just the right amount of electro grit we can't get enough of. The release is available as a free download below and is also on iTunes. Enjoy

Brooklyn, New York based electronic producer / DJ Gramatik has kept us anxiously waiting for his biggest project to date, The Age Of Reason, which Thissongissick.com has the exclusive first listen of the album in its entirety! Denis brought a talented cast of singers and muscians for The Age of Reason; working with the likes of Cherub, ILLUMNTR, Orlando Napier, and his Lowtemp label-mates Gibbz and Exmag. Before layering his collaborators tracks with the perfect amount of bass and funk, Gramatik samples their various instruments to give each tune a unique live band anesthetic. My personal favorite is "Torture", a song which features the talented Eric Krasno on guitar and vocals. New addition to the project Eric Mendelson of Exmag plays guitar all throughout the album providing an undeniable soul to Gramatik. If you have caught Gramatik at a festival or venue over the past year, chances are you've heard some of these tracks. We are less then a month into the year and I will already claim this as being one of the best album releases of 2014. You can stream it in full below, and will be available for FREE download exclusively via torrenting the album at bittorrent.com Saturday!

Not many electronic producers reach iconic status in and outside of the genre, but then again not many can duplicate a career such as The Crystal Method lasting a double decade. Scott Kirkland & Ken Jordan have established their legacy with countless radio charting tracks featured in movies, video games, TV along with the duo pioneering a unique sound that’s influenced hundreds of producers / DJs over the years. You simple cannot discredit what The Crystal Method has achieved having seen electronic music transform before their eyes from the 90′s till now. The duo ring in the new year with the upcoming release of their 5th studio album titled after their name. This album is what many expected Daft Punk to deliver in 2013 but, the American upbringing of The Crystal Method brings 8-bit effects clashing with garage house, glitch and edgy bass.
They’ve brought out an impressive list of featured artists on the album spanning from American singers LeAnn Rimes and Dia Frampton to electronic producers Le Castle Vania and Nick Thayer. You can steam the entire album below and preorder The Crystal Method now before it’s released January 14th. Enjoy

Dubstep and bass enthusiasts alike have all been affected by the musical creations of UK producer extraordinaire Flux Pavilion. Ever since unleashing the almighty ‘bass cannon’ on a generation of new electronic music fans, the hype has never ceased to end when news of new material comes out. Having delivered a well received album titled ‘Blow The Roof’ earlier this year, Flux Pavilion returns to lime spotlight with massive bass focused five track Freeway EP.
The album starts of with hypnotically fresh blend of dubstep and electro as Flux Pavilion partners up with Dim Mak founder Steve Aoki to create ‘Steve French’. Then comes the collaboration which kicked off the ‘Freeway EPs’ buzz as Dillion Francis and Flux produce a moombasston heater ‘I’m The One’ that contains a perfect combination of hard hitting dubstep with electro/moombahton synths. Both ‘Gold Love’ and ‘Mountains and Molehills’ feature Flux’s signature bass line builds and heavy drops as fellow Brit’s Rosie Oddie and Turin Brakes soulful vocals shine bright on each track respectively. The self-titled ‘Freeway’ which showcases a downtempo synth pattern and soft bursts of bass sounds like an ending track to close out ones set. In its entirity, Flux Pavilion ‘Freeway EP’ delivers yet another fine example of his overall control of bass patterns and drops, leaving him in a league of his own as Flux continues to stamp his authority on the bass world and dubstep genre. Gesaffelstein Attempts To Redefine French House and Techno in Game Changing Full Length Album “Alpeh LP” : Album Review and Full StreamPosted in Album Review, Bangin, Mixtapes / Albums by Bryan | Tags: Aleph, French Electro, Gesaffelstein, Pursuit, Techno, Video
French techno god Gesaffelstein has released his debut album Aleph worldwide. Having co-produced ‘Black Skinhead’ & ‘Send It Up’ on Kanye West’s new album Yeezus along with a handful of other impressive original releases under his belt including the captivating ‘Pursuit’, Gesaffelstein has drawn fans new and old to digest the full force of his musical talents. ‘ALEPH’ ALBUM STREAM LOCATED AT BOTTOM OF POST
Gesaffelstein (pronounced GRR-saff-ell-STINE) is a conjunction between the historical physicist Albert Einstein and the German word ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’, which stands for the perfectionism of art between image, sound and video. It is his unique scrutiny to the three aforementioned characteristics that has guided Gesaffelstein to the heights he has reached today. The current attention surrounding Gesaffelstein is not his own doing though seeing he is a rather a quiet and remote individual, but more of his peers and the media who have spoken lavishly over his exceptional musical creations for years now. Consistently pushing the boundaries of electro/techno genres by offering a sinisterly dark, yet energetic twist to the norm is why Gesaffelstein is held in the same regard as Justice, Diplo, Brodinski, and Daft Punk.
Aleph weighs in at a modest 14-tracks and will take listeners less than one hour to complete in its entirety. Gesaffelstein’s introduction track ‘Out Of Line’ sets the tone of the album perfectly as a melodic drum pattern is met with sharp burst of synths and an eerie females verbal tirade. From that point on, the ebb and flow of ‘Aleph’ is quite stunning and will lock listeners in a trance like state. For every cluster of tracks showcasing Gesaffelstein’s gritty & raw french electro/house production, they are followed by one or two minimalistic tracks where the composition is so simple yet engages listeners to take an unknown journey into the depths of the Frenchman’s mind.
One particular track on Gesaffelstein’s Aleph has captivated the electronic music communities attention in the same manner as Skrillex’s ‘Scary Monster and Nice Spirits’ or Flux Pavilion’s ‘Bass Cannon’. The broodingly energetic ‘Pursuit’ is a hodgepodge of bone-chilling synths, waning sirens, and hard hitting drops. Throw in a few eerie chants that assist building the beat up and you have a song that when played makes any activity seem much cooler than you previously remembered. The official music video for ‘Pursuit’ serves as work of modern-day art as the storyline plays out images, inspirations, colors and movies that invoke Gesaffelstein’s imagination.
Gesaffelstein – ‘Pursuit’ (From Aleph Album)
Without using samples or potential copyrighted material unlike many of his colleagues , Aleph stands tall in a league of its own by featuring 100% original music. If Aleph was to win an award for album of the year within its genre, it’s because it serves as a testament for the evolution of production within electronic music. As for Gesaffelstein’s future; it is as open as he’d like it to be. All we can do is wait with anticipation for what he has in store next. Enjoy
