As a black Friday treat, we’ve received the much anticipated release of Erykah Badu’s new mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone. This legendary soul singer has mostly remained quiet since her last major release back in 2010.
Erykah surprised everyone with an unexpected feature from none other than Outkast’s Andre 3000 on "Hello," who is also the father of her child. Besides "Hello" Erykah has remained incredibly elusive with her lack of new releases. In addition to getting Andre involved, Erykah did a remix of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” titled “Cel U Lar Device” and actually welcomed Drake into the studio to work alongside her.
The 11-track album is a pleasant and relaxing listen from start to finish as she blends her soulful vocals with hip-hop instrumentation and psychedelic soundscapes for a sound that Erykah dubs as “TRap & B.” Her mixtape is currently available to stream on iTunes music until 12/4 where it will become available via other outlets. Stream the project below via Datpiff and enjoy.
Dynamic bass pioneers Knife Party have just delivered their newest project, “Trigger Warning”, a 4 song EP filled with heavy electro flavor served with a hint of satire. Just yesterday we received the first taste of the project in the form of a massive dubstep remix from rising LA producer Jauz. Now we get the full stream of all 4 songs in full glory before the EP’s release tomorrow.
Knife Party visited Zane Lowe for an interview to promote the EP, mentioning they aimed to approach the project with a sense of humor most notably on “Plur Police”. This is Nothing new for KP as they have created satirical tracks in the past with tunes like "EDM Trend Machine" off their debut album Abandon Ship, a track poking fun at the rapid ascension and saturation of the tropical house and deep house genres.
Their new EP “Trigger Warning” brings Knife Party’s signature cinematic style together perfectly for a collection of dance floor ready bangers. This release will wrap up a monster year for the duo which included headlining performances at Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, Global Gathering and a long list of other note worthy festivals around the world. As far as their plans for 2016, Zane Lowe mentions the status of the group’s inactive project, Pendulum, but as has been the case in the past the two leave little hope regarding if and when the project will start back up again. Check out the whole EP below and KP’s interview with Zane Lowe. Enjoy

The Mind of a Genius label has shown a keen ear for finding forward thinking artists as they are the masterminds behind the mystery of ZHU, and have recently brought Gallant into the mix. Now they’ve unveiled their newest artist THEY., a producer/songwriter duo, Dante & Drew, bringing a unique futuristic blend of R&B, Hip-Hop, and Indie Rock that has been described to This Song Is Sick by Drew as "making it musically acceptable and enjoyable to not give a fuck."
The duo has just released their debut EP Nu Religion through Mind of A Genius.
“Nu Religion has a few meanings” Dante tells us. “On a basic level we felt like this collection of songs will act as a guide of things to come from THEY. On a broader level Nu Religion is about the will to be disruptive and unapologetic about the way you do things or choose to express yourself.”
As Dante dives deeper, "This project is a new way of thinking. The way us both as individuals have approached life and the art of music has always been left of center even from youth. It's been all about finding a way to incorporate that into a cohesive musical project that we are proud of and that people enjoy. We think we've done that."
Their impressive 3-track track EP is the first installment of a 3-part series we’re very excited to hear more of as their sound brings a breathe of fresh air into the R&B / Hip-Hop world. The duo also was apart of the ZHU and Skrillex collaboration "Working For It" released on ZHU's "Genesis Series" EP. Enjoy!

This release is very unique because is is a collaborative EP with the very unknown singer Santell. It's a step away from the more dance forward productions we've seen from him in the past. Seductive from start to finish, this project is a flirtatious bedroom jam to say the least. Santell drops his sensual R&B lines while Lido makes sure to keep the sultry vibes classy with his clean-cut R&B infused Future styled production. Stream the EP below in full, released through the Mad Decent and Pelican Fly imprints. Enjoy this one with someone else!
