Anton Zaslavski aka "Zedd", the German producer who became an international star in 2013 thanks to his Clarity album which won a grammy for the album's lead single "Clarity" featuring Foxes. He set out on a year long Clarity Tour in support of the album and brought out a show no one would forget. Anyone who was lucky enough to catch a date of the tour was treated to a custom light and laser production setup that could light up a stadium, yet was brought to venues that were much smaller for an epic experience.
This 30 minute long documentary really captures the journey, from Zedd personally setting up the production on the first night to discussing speaking with Skrillex online for the first time to reaching out to Hayley Williams and the entire release around ’Stay The Night’ and much much more. This really lets you see a more personal side of Zedd showing you not only what nice of a guy he is, but also how hands on he is with the entire business of him as an artist which is rare to see.
To see Zedd experience such a level of success is really incredible making us think back to when Thissongissick actually brought out Zedd for one of his first shows in the US ever in Boulder, CO at the even more intimate Fox Theatre in 2011.
What happens when you gather 40 of the best producers, DJs, musicians, and vocalists downunder to try and create one sensational new track? Triple J radio personalities Matt and Alex made a valiant effort to construct a “Hottest 100” record with some of the biggest names in music and documented the experience for all to see.
Sadly, Lorde wanted no part in the endeavor and opted out at the first opportunity. Next, warious artists start chiming in with opinions on what it takes to build a great song, with Flume making sure everyone knew that laptops are essential in the process before Reggie Watt’s cuts out a distorted vocal sample. The mention of synths and bass, albeit the guitar, are shoved at Diplo who declines the notion while triggering Skrillex to eventually “drop the bass” accidently.
Bickering ensues amongst the group, but have no fear, because Flume was again on hand and reminded everyone that "(he) could remix the track!"
The creative process eventually leads to everyone storming out due to Rick Astley, Mr. Rick Roll himself, being kicked off the team and we are left without a true track that combines everyones talents. But hey, at least the attempt made for an entertaining 5 minute video. Laugh and enjoy!
Kendrick Lamar debuted a brand new song last night that is so new, it's currently still untitled. We can expect to see this tune on his upcoming studio album slated for a release in 2015.
This follows up the album’s debut radio ready single “i” and is a complete change in artistic direction for Kendrick. He is joined by living legend Thundercat on bass, Terrace Martin on saxophone, and Bilal and Anna Wise on backup vocals. Kendrick dives deep into subject matters ranging from religion to an artists' core fan base and everything in between, rapping progressively faster and faster until it ends leaving you wanting more.
Let’s hope this song is a sign that more details surrounding the release of his upcoming album will come to fruition, including a release date.
We also get the joy of Steven Colbert interviewing Kendrick about Snoop calling him the king of west coast rap, jokes about where Kendrick got his name from, not smoking weed when around Dr. Dre and more in a hysterical opening session before the world premiere of the song. Watch below!
2014 was Seattle-based ODESZA's year to truly shine thanks to largely in part to their highly successful debut album 'In Return' (which we consider to be one of the best releases of the year), on top of crushing the festival circuit and a couple sold out tours.
The duo have just announced their biggest show to date, at one of our favorite places in the world, the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. Playing at this outdoor venue in the middle of the mountains is something most artists only dream of being able to do, let alone being able to co-headline.
They will be co-headlining the venue alongside funk lords Chromeo who are Red Rocks regulars and are sure to bring an unforgettable funky time.
These are only the headliners of the evening with support to be announced in coming months. With both artists track records of selling out though, it would be wise to pick up tickets now as they just went on sale today, minutes ago. Hope to see you all there!

Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover To Produce And Star In New FX Comedy Pilot About Atlanta Rap ScenePosted in Bangin, Chill, News by nick | Tags: Atlanta, Childish Gambino, Donald Glover, FX
Writer, actor, and rapper Donald Glover has confirmed that he will executively produce and star in an upcoming comedy pilot for a new series set to broadcast on FX. The show will be called "Atlanta", and will revolve around the rap scene in Atlanta.
“Two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy.”
We even have some news on what to expect from Donald's role in the show,
Glover will be acting as "'Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks,' a college drop-out who reconnects with his long buried ambition and sets out to seize the life he imagined for himself when his estranged cousin becomes a sudden star."
With his award winning writing for the show 30 Rock, starring in NBC's Community, and past experience in the skit show Derrick Comedy under his belt we expect Glover to really nail this new project.
Let's also keep in mind that Donald Glover is also a successful rapper under the moniker Childish Gambino. Over the past couple of years he has turned what was a hobby into a massive rap career with recent Grammy nominations for both Rap Album of The Year and Rap Record Of The Year. Can't deny the man is multi talented; we're looking forward to what he'll do with this new role.
We can’t say enough how big of fans we are of ODESZA and how exciting it has been to watch the duo breakout this year largely thanks to their unreal debut album In Return.
We partnered up with the duo and Wavo to run a remix contest for one of the hottest tracks on the release “Say My Name” featuring vocals from Zyra. We were so impressed, this had some of the strongest remix submissions we’ve ever heard from any contest.
The grand prize winner's track will officially be released on Counter x NinjaTune records, and uploaded to our Soundcloud, on top of a sweet prize package of gear and merch. The first place winner is The Geek X Vrv, with second place going to Luke Shay, and third place to AutoLaser who's remixes will also be uploaded to our Soundcloud.
3 winners were supposed to be chosen, but since there were so many fantastic remixes, ODESZA chose 5 remixes as honorable mentions as well, including Basic Tape, Dapa Deep, StéLouse, cln, and Dub Scout.
We really want to thank everyone that participated in this contest, we had some of our best submissions yet. Congrats to all the winners. We are excited for some upcoming remix contests we are planning for 2015, stay tuned!

2014 feels like the year of unexpected collaborations and that continues with hints of a potentially huge match up. Rapper and TSIS favorite Logic just posted a photo with young superstar producer Zedd in the studio with the caption “Worked on something crazy last night in the studio with Zedd.”
Logic is hot off the release of his debut album Under Pressure which smashed expectations as far as numbers go and translates the rappers unbelievable buzz into one of the most powerful forces in hip-hop to watch. Aside from enlisting Louis Futon for a remix of his song “Break It Down”, the rapper has never once ventured into the electronic space, staying pretty traditional and true to his signature style. Zedd, on the flip side, has never worked with a rapper before, not even with a remix.
We feel the lack of experience in each other's genres will lead to some amazing chemistry as both artists dive into something new at the same time, leaving us with something potentially groundbreaking.
Will they go more in the traditional progressive house styled side of Zedd or venture into something new like Vic Mensa's genre blending single “Down On My Luck”. What do you think?
From the looks of the picture, they look excited, which has us all very excited for what’s to come.
Norwegian overnight superstar producer and DJ Kygo exploded on the world's radar this year through a series of viral remixes. Showcasing his signature tropical house style the young producer remixes classics like Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” or M83’s “Wait” and new tracks like Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire”, Coldplay’s “Midnight”, Seinabo Sey’s “Younger” and even “Cut Your Teeth” by Kyla La Grange’s just to name a few.
Kygo is coming off the heels of two sold out tours, and countless festival plays including a main stage performance at TomorrowWorld, all strictly off of his remixes, no originals. That is, until now. Today we get a preview of his debut original single, “Firestone” featuring some smooth vocals from emerging singer Conrad. From this release it sounds like Kygo has successfully replicated the sound he became known for through his remixes in an original. The song is set to release Monday, December 1st.
We get to hear the song 1 min and 43 seconds into the action packed video of his North American leg of the Endless Summer tour. We see footage of a few of his most pivitol US shows to date; including the rooftop of Brooklyn nightclub Output, The Fonda Theatre in LA and the legendary TomorrowWorld performance, with commentary from Kygo interjected throughout. Watch below while soaking in the rising star's very first original.
James Blake just revealed in an interview with The Miami Times that he will be releasing his sophomore studio album in early 2015, just a short 5 months away. He also revealed that the album is 70% complete and might even include a feature from Kanye West.
Here’s what Blake had to say about the record for Kanye: "We haven't done a great deal of work in the same room yet, but we've done a few things, kind of helped each other with our own music. In terms of the actual collaboration for this record, it looks like we should be able to get something done. I know that there's a specific song I would like him to be on, and if he can do that by the time my record comes out, that would be fantastic.”
Let’s not forget when James Blake and Chance the Rapper lived together earlier this year, which only leaves us hoping some sort of collaboration was created during that time that might make the album.
James also had this to add about experimenting with some new production techniques and feeling good about where he is at writing: "I guess I've taken a focus on the songwriting again, even more closely, and I'm dabbling in some different production techniques, things I've developed. A lot of things have changed in my life since the last record, and overall for the better, so I'm in a good place, I think. I'm in a good place to write in general, and I have been for quite a while."
James Blake will be performing the new tracks for the very first time on his upcoming American shows that are kicking off November 30th in Toronto ending in LA, You can see dates below.

After making headlines for a variety of reasons over the past few months, deadmau5 has just released some of the coolest news to date. The artist released an aerial photo via Twitter this morning announcing that he is set to build a 45,000 square foot mega studio. On top of this announcement, he also stated that he will be doing less club shows and more "epic stage shows".
He has said:
"where im putting EDM money. less club gigs, a few epic stage shows, a 45,000sqft studio complex for actual musicians."
It is very interesting to hear "for actual musicians", signifying that a big focus for the studio will be live elements, something that has always helped his production stand out.
This is also points to the potential expansion of his mau5trap label with a new roster of signed artists to have access to the studio upon completion. We're looking forward to what's to come!
Still exploding from the success of his debut studio album Money Sucks, Friends Rule, and just after releasing a free Rebirth version of one of it's songs, Dillon Francis shows no sign of slowing down. We just now got word of a brand new 4 song Moombahton EP on the horizon. We know it will have a colossal collaboration with Skrillex that you can hear below. The EP will also feature the song he opened his EDC Las Vegas set with, and 2 other brand new ones. This news has been revealed through a very exciting tweet just moments ago. See below!
