After Will.i.am admitted that he did in fact steal the song “Rebound” from Arty & Mat Zo for his song “Let’s Go”, he sits down with none other then the Assosiated Press (AP) to explain himself. He basically plays dumb while saying some outrageous statements.
“If you look on the album there is credit. YOU CAN’T STEAL if you credited someone.”
Does Will.i.am for some reason think that you can “steal” or “sample” parts of other commercial released songs and release them as your own by simply putting someone’s name on album credits? Is he actually this horribly misinformed or just being very sneaky and playing dumb?
“That happens a bunch of times. Where legal takes so long but creative is instantaneous. And a lot of times, the community, for the sake of the art, bond with each other.”
Wow really? Arty & Mat Zo are supposed “bond over the art” after you steal one of their tracks and give them no compensation at all and release it commercially?
“What do I know? I give it to legal I’m not no attourney. I did my piece. I gave credit to the person who did it, It’s not my fault he didn’t tell me about the other guy. So who’s to blame? I didn’t know, I wasn’t in the room when you made it. You shoulda told me you had a collaborator.”
Then he actually goes on to say that he is sorry about Mat Zo not getting his name on the album credits.. Mat Zo is probably looking for a little more then simply getting his name on the album credits, maybe getting compensated for the song Will just released commercially.
This is above legal and financial obligations. It comes down to an artist who is more popular not giving respect to lesser known artist and attempting to take advantage of him. We will keep you posted on what Will.i.am plans to do.

Deadmau5 continued his regular routine of putting out unreleased previews of his upcoming tracks as he experiments with them. First off we get a 2 minute tease of “moog bass + modular” which is a smooth melodic track reminding me a little of his anthem Strobe. Then next up we hear a change of pace with “Assume Control” which hits us with a dutch house styled ending that Deadmau5 refers to as “jacked afro crap”, which he claims was unintentional. These both keep us on our toes for new Mau5.
Also included is his set from the Weekend 2 of Ultra Music Festival down in Miami a few months back. He played a suprising set spanning from some classic hits to some techy underground cuts. All in all it’s a great balanced mix that should have Mau5 fans in a frenzy. Check out the full track-list below. Enjoy!

Mac Miller unexepectedly teams up with intelligent beat music scene pioneer Flying Lotus for an incredible new track “S.D.S.”, complete with brand new visuals. The offbeat mildly weird track from Mac Miller gets a fittingly weird video showing Mac in Pajamas and surrounded by interesting characters. This sounds so far different then his older more predicatble tracks. Loving the bold shift, and hope to see him do more stuff with Fly Lo. This song is now available through iTunes. Enjoy!

New York based The Disco Fries drop off their latest original house anthem “Murika” which manages to span over a few different styles. It has some nice melody driven progressive and hardstyle builds with some vicious electro house drops. In their words the track was “inspired by every melodic, groove, and musical element that is motivating our sets right now.” With just the right vocal samples and unique enough nasty bassline to be a summer anthem, which has already been getting played out by Tiesto, Hardwell, Kaskade and more. They hit us up to premiere the free download of this track to get it out to the fans instead of selling it. You can grab free through their facebook. Also don’t miss their recent Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike x Carnage Electro Bootleg . Turn it up, enjoy!
