Swedish House Mafia Members Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell form New Project ‘Departures’, Announce Ibiza Residency

Soon after the breakup of Swedish House Mafia, 2/3 of the group have already announced their new project. Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell have teamed up to create Departures which will get launched in Ibizia at Ushuaïa Beach Club on June 12th as well as kick off their summer long residency. Excited to see what the new sound will be like considering they won’t have any Swedish House Mafia restraints and can play with far more freedom. They are easily one of the biggest acts to hold a residency in Ibiza this summer and also have residencies at the incredible Light Nightclub curated by Cirque Dwith all the other acts signing exclusive residencies in Las Vegas. We will keep you posted on more new as it comes in. Honestly.. is anyone really surprised?

Nicky Romero teamed up with the lovely Krewella for the latest certified house anthem “Legacy”. It has Nicky’s catchy upbeat gritty synths with Krewella’s agressive fire including their smooth and seductive vocals. This full preview was taken from Nicky Romero’s huge Coachella live from last weekend. This is going to be the best thing we get until a full official preview. We can expect this song sometime in the next few weeks / months getting released on Nicky’s record label, Protcool Recordings. This also got debuted during Krewella’s Ultra Music Festival Live Set. [NEWS] Logic Signs to Iconic Hip-Hop Record Label Def Jam Recordings

One of our favorite rappers that we have been supporting since day one, Maryland based Logic just announced a monumental record deal signing with iconic record label Def Jam Recordings. His entire Visionary Music Group crew got signed, leaving him with full creative control, so we don’t have to worry about his sound changing. In the past 2 years he has released two highly succecsful This Song Is Sick sponsered mixtapes Young Sinatra: Undeniable and Young Sinatra as well as sold out all across the US and Europe, really making him the perfect candidate for the huge record deal. Now he will have all the tools to create the best possible music yet. He also locked in the legendary hip-hop producer No ID to produce his debut album, the producer famous for working with Kanye West, Jay-Z, Big Sean, Common and Nas.

For those unaware the impressive Def Jam umbrella includes Jay-Z Roc Nation, Kanye West’s GOOD Music, Rick Ross’s solo deal, Rihanna, and so many more. Now Logic will be joining the all star cast and like we mentioned bringing along his Vissionary Music Group family, so we can expect the signature Logic we love, yet working with a doper lineup of artists.

This also comes after just recently making it on the cover of the Freshmen Class issue of XXL Magazine alongside other rising starts including Joey Bada$$ and Trinidad James.

The video features one of the new singles off Logic’s upcoming Welcome to Forever mixtape. Also Logic recently announced he would be hitting up a city near you on his Welcome to Forever tour that is powered by Thissongissick.com, see all tour dates here.

Australian duo Empire of the Sun have been hidden away until recently releasing a mysterious trailer on their newest album Ice on the Dune (watch trailer below), which we now have official news that it is set for a June release. Today we get the first sample of the new music, “Alive” capturing a certain upbeat extra playful indie dance styling reminding me of early MGMT. Their over the top cosmic image manages to shine through on all of their tracks really conveying a certain majestic quality. Look out for Ice on the Dune in June. Enjoy.

Pharrell Talks about Working with Daft Punk on their new album in The Collaborators Documentary

Another day passes, and another new Daft Punk video arrives in support of their upcoming album Random Access Memories. Today we get the 4th episode of The Collaborators series this time interviewing Pharrell. He touches on been overly excited to work with the group and finally having time while in Paris. He touches on creating “Get Lucky” when both of the were in that Nile Rodgers state of mind. He then goes on saying how the song makes him feel like he is on an endless 4am island party. A heavy hitting line, undercutting a majority of music getting produced these days is “You don’t need MDMA for this music” – Pharrell. The song is insanely incredible, and an instant hit. And he is said to have worked with the Robots on some other tracks on the album. Enjoy!

Wow… I am floored. After years of patiently waiting, Pretty Lights announces details on his long awaited album titled A Color Map of the Sun set to release on July 2nd. Today we get the first official single from the album “Around the Block” and featuring none other then Talib Kweli himself. This is summer spirited electro-soul jam with a his signature hip-hop flavor, now with all original vocals from one of the most soulful rappers alive. The music video is easily one of his best to date, filled with countless visual effects giving it that certain untouchable edge. It has some frames showing Derick getting his own original vinyls pressed from musicians he recorded all over the country, then sampling the vinyl on his computer for that unique warmness. He is creating a documentary to compliemnt the album to show how unique the process really was, see the trailer for the documentary below. This is one of the songs that is so good you end up replaying the second it is done.This song is available for free download like all of Pretty Lights music. Diplo set to Produce EDM Movie with 20th Century Fox

As Electronic music continues to rise, it was only time before a full length feature film was to hit the big screen nationwide. 20th Century Fox, the company responsible for some of the biggest movies in Hollywood have teamed up with none other then Diplo to create a big screen movie with aiming to capture the “electronic dance music craze”. Diplo will be executively producing the film, which should ensure it properly describes the electronic world.

The plot of the movie revolves around 3 teens who’s goal is to get into a music festival where Diplo is headlining. It is said to be “8 Mile meets Project X ”. I couldn’t trust Diplo more then I do, so I have full faith he will be able to make this work.

This movie should defintely cement electronic music, and really show that electronic music really is here to stay.

Daft Punk – SNL Ad With “Get Lucky” ft. Pharrell and Nile Rodgers for Random Access Memories

After giving Coachella a special exclusive suprise 2 minute trailer on the Jumbotrons during Friday, Daft Punk have released a 1 minute version of the new video for us to replay infinitely showing the robots, Pharrell, and guitarist Nile Rodgers. Those suits are truly next level, and I really hope they become the new fad.

We get more of the incredible single “Get Lucky” which will be the lead single on Random Access Memories, their upcoming released slated for May 21st. This is easily going to be one of the most signifcant music releases ever.

Also for those wondering, Daft Punk did not perform during Phoenix’s set last night at Coachella… it was randomly enough R. Kelley.. Granted it was good, especially for those R. Kelley fans who are happy to see him performing live again. I just wanted to see some Daft Punk.

Day 1 of Coachella was huge, and enjoyed by everyone online yesterday. Well now we can watch the live stream of Day 2 of the festival with an electronic all star lineup and some great live acts, and all the ingredients are set for Daft Punk to make a surprise appearance during Phoenix’s set, watch below and see why here.

Here is why Daft Punk could very well have a guest appearance during Phoenix’s set which is getting streamed tonight, below. Here is the back story on why this could happen: French band Phoenix features members Thomas Mars (vocals), Deck d’Arcy (bass), Laurent Brancowitz (guitar), Christian Mazzalai (guitar) all of which were in a band with both Bangalter and Guy-Manuel of Daft Punk. Daft Punk’s last appearance in the past 4 years has been stepping in during Pheonix’s sold out Madison Square Garden show in 2009, so this would be nothing new. They also released a trailer featuring Pharrell for their new album at Coachella yesterday, and have been hanging out at the festival. and are confirmed to be hanging out at the festival yesterday. All I can say, make sure you are watching Channel 1 at 11:35pm PST / 2:35am EST to Phoenix’s set. But who knows, maybe I’m crazy.

Aside from Daft Punk, ther is also have Knife Party, Bassnectar, Major Lazer, Baauer, Benny Benassi, The Postal Service, The XX, Portugal. The Man, Moby, Hot Chip, and lot more streaming their full sets live below. Look below at the schedule and tune into the 3 live channels!

Daft Punk ‘Random Access Memories’ Trailer Featuring Pharell at Coachella 2013

Daft Punk‘s truly iconic upcoming album Random Access Memories is set to release May 21st. The french duo decided to release an official trailer at Coachella on the Jumbotron screens for the album featuring the lead single “Get Lucky” featuring vocals from Pharrell. It also features guitarist Nile Rodgers from Chic, who contributed the infectious melody. Their outfits covered in sequens couldn’t be more fitting to represent such a epic song.

Also confirmed that both members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk were at Coachella without robot heads in the VIP section and gave Pharrell a high five after the trailer played.

How much do you want to bet they will be playing a surprise set during Phoenix’s main stage set tonight at Coachella? They did used to be in a group with members of Phoenix.
