Bassnectar is back after unleashing his massive Immersive Music Mixtape – Side Two earlier this fall. Lorin’s return to the airwaves comes with sad news of long-time friend and fellow music pioneer Cheb i Sabbah recently passing away after a long fight with cancer. In true Bassnectar fashion, Lorin calls upon his faithful “bassheads” to commemorate the passing of the legendary producer through the gift of music and released a remastered remix of Cheb’s ‘Alkher Illa Doffor’ to gleek over.Though this tribal glitch-hop and bass loaded touch isn’t free, for the low price of $1 you can add this your library knowing 100% of the proceeds are going to Cheb’s family to assist during this difficult time. Enjoy

From Bassnectar himself:
Some of this is mixed like a peak-time set with all levels set to 11, while a lot of it goes deeper than usual; more ethereal, more surreal, more experimental.
Kind of like a sunrise set, in some strange Other World where the sunlight melts your mind. :)

Bassnectar drops off his latest single “Take You Down” and the Special Edit at that. It is another stab at the melodic side of bass music while managing to even work in some trap elements. He ventures into some foreign territory while managing to stay true to what you love from him. As Lorin puts it:
Take You Down was put together as a summertime jam… something deep and lush and euphoric. I started it while I was on vacation, and the general theme is basically falling in love and that slow-motion feeling you get when you plunge backwards into something overwhelming, but never hit the ground.”
This song will be getting released as a 5 track single on September 24th.

He brings in some strong trap elements to perfectly compliment while never overpowering the soulful classic. Say hello to Patrick Reza, the incredible bass producer / DJ from LA and just unleashed a powerful dubstep original, “Vitals”. This song packs just as much smooth melody as brutal energy. From the epic buildups to the unstoppable melodic basslines the track is spot on. The minor piano adds just the right contrasting touch to amazing track. He has been genrous and given this out for free, so don’t miss it. As a BONUS I have also included Patrick Reza’s recent collaboration remix with Bassnectar of Tom Swoon & Amba Sheppard’s “Not Too Late”. Enjoy!

The legendary summer party Hard Summer will be returning to the great LA Historic Park with a serisouly stacked lineup for it’s 2013 edition. This year they have created a hysterical trailer featuring dogs who look strikingly simliar to some of the headliners. The headliners this year include Knife Party, Duck Sauce, Dog Blood, Justice, Bassnectar, and Empire of the Sun. They’ve also brought out Flux Pavilion, Flying Lotus, 2 Chainz, Zedd, Crystal Castles, Baauer and Dillon Francis. That is only a small section of the eclectic lineup.
Video Sountrack: 1. Dog Blood – Next Order 2. Destructo – Higher
…..No Daft Punk. The lineup just got released for the most buzzed about festival in the country, Coachella Music & Art Festival. The legendary festival which takes place in the sunny Indigo Valley, California every year expanded to two weekends last year to accommodate the incredibly high demand. The 2013 festival will be taking place over April 12th – 14th and April 19th – 21st.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 29th at 10am PST.
So there is no Daft Punk.. yet again. I guess we were silly for letting our hopes get up once again. But there is a reunion from Wu-Tang Clan, which is more then dope. Also confirmed is the much speculated reunion of Ben Gibbard electronic project The Postal Service. Of course Red Hot Chili Peppers will be incredible, but didn’t they just play every festival last year? Phoenix is an incredible band, so that’s awesome to see them headline. All in all for Coachella standards I would say the headliners are a tad weak, and they have definitely shifted more towards live acts again. Make sure to read the small text because there defintely is a the stacked lineup of everyone underneath the headliners.
In the electronic spectrum we have Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, Knife Party, Benny Benassi, TNGHT, Eric Prydz, Dog Blood (Skrillex + Boys Boize), Major Lazer, Disclosure, Hardwell, Kill the Noise, Wolfgang Gartner, Nicky Romero, Excision and that’s just a handful.
In the hip-hop world, besides Wu-Tang Clan we have 2 Chainz, Danny Brown, Jurassic 5, Pusha T, and Earl Sweatshirt.
What is everyone’s thoughts?
The true American king of all things bass, Bassnectar drops us off his latest behometh remix of “Rez” by Underworld. The song is equal parts melodic, powerful, and epic. It has a nice progressive buildup, then the crashing of smooth emotion filled bass. This track is set to release Feb 16th, you can stream and pre-order it below. Turn it up, enjoy!
