Kaytranada continues to establish himself as one of the leading voices in the downtempo and hip-hop inspired electronic productions that has influenced a sea of producers. The Montreal based producer recently announced a residency on BBC Radio 1 for 2015 where he will provide a weekly hour long mix; and today we have the first episode of the exciting new series.
The mix is a full hour of "beats, edits, and jams" with tracks from himself and a bunch of friends with some exclusive gems sprinkled in the mix.
The exact details are still be unveiled, but BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong has announced that Daft Punk will be doing something this Friday May 10th at 9pm. Since they did an essential mix back in 97′ there is definite chance for a followup.
We might potentially hear some new tracks off the upcoming album Random Access Memories as we creep on the released date on May 21. This is speculation based off of Pete Tong’s post of course. We will post updates here.
2:15pm UPDATE: We now have news that this Friday Pete Tong will be airing the first audio interview with the duo in 6 years that was recorded at this year’s Coachella. Since it is getting broadcasted via BBC Radio 1 we can hope for a clip of another new track off Random Access Memories. Based on them doing one in the past, an Essential Mix is defintely not unrealistic in the future.
BONUS: As a bonus we have included their 1997 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix featuring 2 hours of some of their best classic originals, remixes and favorite tracks.

Following up Avicii’s out of the box guest mix, we have none other then trap beast RL Grime filling the second half off of this weekend’s monsterous Diplo and Friends radio show. This mix features 60 minutes of some unreleased trap bombs and favorites seamlessly mixed together. He throws some bangin hip-hop mixed in between unreleased trap anthems like “Baddest” from Baauer and “Crowd Control” from Flosstradmus & DJ Sliink. He ends the mix with a huge unknown remix to Chief Kief’s “Love Sosa” that goes off. This should have some massive global appeal to all fans of trap and hip-hop. Turn this up, and patiently await the latest from mr. Grime. Also don’t miss his recent Hard Miami 2013 Mixtape from last week as well. Enjoy.

Diplo has brought out quite the variety of his friend DJ’s to do guest mixes for his weekly Diplo & Friends Radio Show, yet I don’t think anyone saw this coming. He shockingly brought Swedish superstar Avicii, which Diplo hilariously reassures us how he is indeed friends with Avicii in the mix. Do not worry as the mix starts with 10 minutes of non electronic throw back tracks that might throw some of you off, trust that this is easily one of the best guest mixes we have heard in awhile. The mix quickly progresses to a fitting D.A.N.C.E. by Justice and Eric Prydz throwback. He then moves through a fantastic mix of refreshing disco and unexcepted tracks. He even includes original song from Etta James sampled in Levels. It makes sense that he would showcase his abilities as a DJ and stray away from his typical succescingle progressive house singles. This mix really grounds him as a DJ and shows that he is still very much tapped into the underground, and not a sold out commercial DJ despite his quick rise to worldwide fame. Sit back and really peek into this mix and see a different side of Avicii. Enjoy!
