Recess Music & Ideas Festival on Michigan State Campus ft. Kaskade & Project 46 Details + Giveaway : Formerly Glowfest [CONTEST]

One of the pioneer touring electronic festivals GlowFest who has had acts such as Pretty Lights, Deadmau5, Hardwell, Porter Robinson, Big Gigantic, and countless other top acts have gone under some serious changes and grown as a company. They are now called RECESS and are in their terms a “Music & Ideas Festival”.  The second edition of the new event will be taking place at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan on Friday April 19th, 2013. Featuring musical guests Kaskade and Project 46.

During the day RECESS is a speker series featuring an out-of-the-box progressive speaker panel during the day from 3pm – 4pm “Study Hall” (held in Business School Room N130 on Campus). Then there is “The Playground”, which is an interactive career fair at the venue from 4:30 – 6:00pm (AG Expo Field) prior to doors opening featuring 16-20 disruptive startup companies. To end the day is the word class electronic concert they are known for at Michigan State University, where they have brought out electronic icon Kaskade and rising Canadian duo Project 46. The festival is going to be the first outdoor music festival that the campus has seen, so should get extra crazy.
It’s amazing to see electronic music spawn such a potentially impactful event, reminding me of 3LAU’s Pencils for Promise campaign.

GRiZ is an artist we have loved supporting over the past year and half ever since premiering his “Where Is The Love” track. We have enjoyed watching him as an artist really explode. We got to be apart of bringing GRiZ to The Fox Theatre here in Boulder, and if didn’t go you may have heard about the historic show where he brought out his own production full of lights, lasers and more. We are happy to announce that we are helping out with his next legendary Colorado show, this time down in Denver.

On March 1st, GRiZ will be taking over  The Ogden Theater in Denver which is one of the coolest indoor venues in Colorado. He has told us that he is going to be unveiling his even newer bigger production that is sure to be even better then before (See pictures above / below). The supporting artists have not been announced yet, but I would imagine somehow dope. See below for details and music.

His last Colorado show in Boulder at The Fox Theater SOLD OUT in under 5 hours after going on sale. Although this venue is around 3 times the size of The Fox, tickets are already half sold out. As the the year continues to kick off we get another incredible lineup for one of the summer’s biggest parties in America. Daft Punk Tour 2013: Set to to Headline Coachella, 5 Europe Festival Dates, New Album

Songkick just unintentionally announced the long awaited news of Daft Punk playing headlining performances at Coachella 2013.

The legendary Daft Punk has become the most talked about and rumored electronic act in the entire world. The rocked the world with their iconic L.E.D. pyramid setup they took on their 2007 Alive World Tour. A few years later they got recruited to create the soundtrack  for the blockbuster film Tron: Legacy taking the group to even bigger heights. Their hype has only grown every day since, with countless electronic fans hoping to get the chance to see the duo.

Well it now seems that all the rumors and waiting have possibly come an end. The concert monitoring service Songkick just sent those who follow Daft Punk the notie below letting them know that they will be appearing this year at Coachella, alongside The Rolling Stones, Phoenix, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs I might add. This might be the moment that we have all been waiting for.

At first I grew skeptical as this wasn’t from any Daft Punk source. But then they have also confirmed to be working on the new album with legendary Nile Rogers on a new album set to come out in 2013. These Coachella headline dates would align with the release of this new album early next year.

Another point leading us to believe the Coachella leak, is a just earlier this year their was a massive information leak from  world famous live muscian photographer Olver James L’eroe about DP playing the European festvial circuit (Danmark “Rosklide”, Spain “Primavera Sound”, Norway “Oyafestivalen” England “Glastonbury” and Sweden “Peace and Love”). The phographer has since gotten heat from the festival promoters, leading us to believe in it’s truth. Below is a Facebook conversation with the photagrpher Oliver leaking the European news.

With European festival speculations, Coachella near confirmation, new album in works, and their website even wen under construction earlier last month. All of these things add up to really let us believe that 2013 is finally the return of Daft Punk.. maybe they will throw in that World Tour we have been hearing about for so long. Thissongissick.com Presents GRiZ at The Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO 12/1/12 | Tickets On Sale + Music

Have you been keeping your tabs on GRiZ? He’s one of the newer faces in the electronic scene, who’s been making waves since his recently self-released his Mad Liberation album for free about a month ago. We’ve been featuring him on the site since his epic Aerosmith – Dream On Remix well over a year ago. We’ve been following him, and even got to know the amazing guy, and then when I heard Mad Liberation for the first time all the way through, I was blown away. It sparked emotions I hadn’t felt since listening to Pretty Lights for the first time. Such a unique complex potpourri of electronic sounds that all came together perfect in away I had never heard before.

Well I’m pleased to announce that we are helping present GRiZ in concert at one of our favorite venues The Fox Theatre here in Boulder, Colorado on Saturday, December 1st. It’s the same intimate 650 person venue that we brought Skrillex for his first headlining Colorado visit back in 2010, and that same venue that’s been home to Deadmau5, Rusko, Zedd, Feed Me, Porter Robinson, STS9,  and the list goes on and on. There is something about the raw energy of the intimate vibe of this amazing venue mixed with it’s very healthy history that makes it a sort of initiation show to play in the Colorado music scene.

Pretty Lights live is certainly something special, I remember seeing Pretty Lights at his first Red Rocks show and walking away knowing I’d seen one of the best shows in my entire life. Well he’s made playing the historic Red Rocks Amphitheater a annual tradition, and this year for his third time playing he made the occasion two days long. This video features his newly released leak off his upcoming album “So Bright” featuring vocals from Eligh, and even shows some footage of Eligh playing live with PL at the Red Rocks shows.
