Tiesto-Essential-Mix-2014

Tiësto will always be one of the most influential and talked about DJs on the planet. Headlining countless music festivals in every single country, releasing thousands of mixes and having a few artist albums under his belt. For the first time in years, Tiesto has returned to Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 program to lay down a brand new Essential Mix. The coveted 2 hour mix where an artist can step outside the box by unveiling unreleased material as seen by Nero, Eric Prydz and Skrillex or for an artist to show a completely different side, like Disclosure dropping an hour of straight hip-hop to start their mix last year. Steering almost entirely away from the expected progressive / electro house anthems, Tiesto showcases his newer side with an exciting blend of techno, deep house and future garage music; displaying some of the hottest tracks and the latest offerings from his Music Freedom label, like "Gecko" and even showcasing a fury of unreleased music. Stream the mix and look at the full track-list below. What are your thoughts on Tiesto's new direction of DJ style / genre choice?

20120623_3628

The Quack is Back folks! The legendary duo that conjured up hits like “Barbara Streisand”, “It’s You”, and “Big Bad Wolf” come back into our lives thanks to the magic of Pete Tong and his infamous Essential Mix series. Duck Sauce, a formidable partnership between A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, brought their talents to the radio this past Friday night over the course of two hours. This is what they had to say about the the mix:

”In the first hour of our Essential Mix we decided to share a bunch of unreleased demo’s; songs we tried shopping to George Michaels, Celine Dion, and Billy Joel but that were all declined. In the second hour we made a mix of songs that inspired us over the years and up to the present. A lot of the music in this mix comes from our secret crates and was bought on the black market. This mix takes you into the wacky world of duck mountain and will give you a glimpse of our upcoming album ‘Quack’ ”.  ~ Duck Sauce

This mix takes you on a journey of disco treats, house jams, and electro heaters all while keeping a dance atmosphere the entire time. If this is an indication of what Duck Sauce’s new album will feature, than the release of “Quack” will be one to keep an eye out for heading into 2014! Listen to the mix and check out the full tracklist below.
