Unexpected. Yes. Unconventional. Very much so. But who cares in the end as funk lordz Chromeo finally announced the release date for their highly anticipated fourth studio album "White Women" in an unorthodox fashion. Using the internet superstore otherwise known as Craigslist as their medium, the duo created a post (seen above) containing the album artwork, lyrics to an unidentified song, and the release date of May 12th, 2014. Having teased fans for the last few months with tracks such as the recently released "Come Alive" featuring Toro Y Moi, we can now officially countdown to one of the biggest albums to come out in 2014. We have an extra special electro-soul remix of New York funk super group Lettuce's song "Do It Like You Do" thanks to rising live electro funk act The Floozies, who are also the first act signed to GRiZ's new record label Liberated Music. The Floozies managed to infect their signature blend of funky glitched out bass throughout the length of the track. They let the Nigel Hall's vocals, and the eclectic blend of instruments all shine through perfectly while layering in added guitar and percussion elements making quite a remix. Stream and grab a free download below!

Chromeo and Toro y Moi recently linked up for one of my favorite tracks I have ever heard from either artist individually and now we get the undeniably amazing track brought to visual form. As both artists’ track records include great music videos, it was no surprise it feels more like a short film as opposed to a music video, by Alex Southam. From Toro y Moi dressed as a janitor to Dave 1 electrocuting people, and girls dancing in leotards the video really has it all. Enjoy!

Brooklyn, New York based electronic producer / DJ Gramatik has kept us anxiously waiting for his biggest project to date, The Age Of Reason, which Thissongissick.com has the exclusive first listen of the album in its entirety! Denis brought a talented cast of singers and muscians for The Age of Reason; working with the likes of Cherub, ILLUMNTR, Orlando Napier, and his Lowtemp label-mates Gibbz and Exmag. Before layering his collaborators tracks with the perfect amount of bass and funk, Gramatik samples their various instruments to give each tune a unique live band anesthetic. My personal favorite is "Torture", a song which features the talented Eric Krasno on guitar and vocals. New addition to the project Eric Mendelson of Exmag plays guitar all throughout the album providing an undeniable soul to Gramatik. If you have caught Gramatik at a festival or venue over the past year, chances are you've heard some of these tracks. We are less then a month into the year and I will already claim this as being one of the best album releases of 2014. You can stream it in full below, and will be available for FREE download exclusively via torrenting the album at bittorrent.com Saturday!

The live band / DJ hybrid duo Boombox are back with their latest original single following up ‘Lost Ya’ from earlier this year. ‘Waiting Around’ is a funky electronic indie single that is sure to put you in a good mood. It is the first single off the group’s new album Filling in the Color set to release January 14th. This song incorporates a large amount of live band elements from guitar solos to horns leaving us with a jam inspired twist reminding me of The Grateful Dead, which isn’t surprising with Guitar / Lead Vocalist Zion of Boombox being the son of two members from the group (Keith and Donna Jean Godchauxt). You can listen to the exclusive stream below. Enjoy.
