Detroit transplanted to Colorado electronic muscian GRiZ has been teasing with his Grizmatik project and a collaboration with Big Gigantic, yet has kept his solo productions under wrap since his highly successful free album Mad Liberation released last fall. “Gettin’ Live” is the first single from his newest currently unnamed record. Right from the beginning the song packs a unique twist of bass and soul unlike anyone else. The song features some Django Unlimited samples as well as some guitar and sax work from GRiZ himself, and also features a guitar solo from Muzzy the guitarist on his last record. As if ‘Gettin Live’ didn’t have enough energy, around the 2:30 mark, he let’s loose one of the dirtiest sections he has ever created. GRiZ has drastically improved as a producer, and has most definitely not lost that funky flavor we love. He has been nice enough to give this song out completely for free. Look out for more about his upcoming record slated to release sometime before summer. Enjoy!

Whoaa… When GRiZ and Gramatik team up for their side project Grizmatik, incredible things happen. Today we get the preview of their latest massive single “My People”. We got the first taste with their Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom complete with music video, and this track might top it. They fuse funk, soul, and gritty bass unlike any artists I have heard. These two teaming up is an insane combination. you can hear both artists shine through heavily. Even though this is just a sample, you can tell it’s gonna be quite the anthem. Can’t wait for the release.
Also don’t miss their main stage performance at this year’s SnowBall Music Festival in Winter Park this weekend March 8th – 10th. Enjoy.

Gramatik let us preview his newest single “Bluestep” earlier in the week alongside a 2012 recap video showing the insane amount of festivals and concerts he played last year. Well now we get the free download of the incredible funk filled song. This is the first song off his upcoming album The Age of Reason, coming out later this spring. This is also the first release on his newly founded Record Label LowTemp. He fuses raw blues elements like guitar with his fresh bass filled edge. Something about the offbeat feeling of this song struck me off the first listen, then grew on me every listen since; which is a sign of a true great music to me. Turn this up, enjoy!

Niiiiceee.. Remember the incredibly catchy “Du Du Doo” by Two Fresh? Well it just got an extra fresh remix from GRiZ. He is the talented young producer who recently released one of the best electronic albums of the year Mad Liberation, for free. He flips the smooth Two Fresh’s track into a funky bass heavy BANGER. Like most songs from GRiZ, the track takes many turns as it progresses. Around 2 minutes it enters a high pitched moombahton-esque break that will get you moving. All in all a very solid remix, and free download. Turn this up, enjoy!

Damn, I’ve been waiting for this for quite some time.. GRiZ.. the past Michigan resident who has made his way to Boulder has finally announced that his Mad Liberation album will be coming out September 4th for free. TSIS has been following this talented 22 year old producer ever since we posted his his MASSIVE remix of Aerosmith’s “Dream On”. This is the last single off of Mad Liberation to come out before it drops next week. There isn’t an official tracklist, but I believe that “The Future Is Now” and “Where Is The Love” are on the album as well. This track “Smash the Funk” is a future funk /groovestep bass heavy BANGER. It starts off with a dancey funk break which immedately picks up some energy with a little bass. It then moves it then builds up more and more energy until the bass finally comes crashing in complete with his eerie high pitched synths. The track has soul and emotion, yet capturing a modern crunchy edge.. to form GRiZ’s distinct flavor. Turn up the bass, get ready for September 4th, this looks to be one of the biggest releases of the year. Enjoy!

Don’t forget GRiZ is playing Rowdytown at Red Rocks presented by Thissongissick.com featuring Big Gigantic, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Dillon Francis!!
If you are unfamiliar with GRiZ.. you should slap a little sense in yourself. He’s the 22 year old electronic producer from Detroit that combines countless genres and sounds into every single one of his track, never getting confined to a single genre. As we wait for details on release date of his upcoming Mad Liberation album.. he drops another free track on us. Following up the sample based funk / groove BANGER “You Got To Change” and the heavy hitting moombah BANGER “Damian Marley – Welcome To Jamrock (GRiZ remix)”. This track “The Future Is Now” is on another level, it’s something GRiZ calls “Groovestep” and “Future-Funk”.. which essentially has the perfect amount of classic funk filled samples, mixed with his own recorded saxaphone, on top of incredibly crafted bass sounds that make you absolutely loose it. Cannot wait to hear more new GRiZ. Turn this up, find lots bass, enjoy!
