With emerging producers popping up at random throughout the densely populated city of Los Angeles, AWE has prevailed in gaining the attention of many following the release of his recent original "Crystals" containing style similarities from the likes of Hudson Mohawke and Rustie.  AWE newest endeavor see's the beatmakers talents spread to a bootleg edit of Astronomar's festival ready remix of "Go Deep" to incorporate a fresh layer of trap aesthetics, while stripping the electro feel from the track. Glitchy synths and and 8-bit samples are added into song packing a groove you won't be able to get out of your head. With a free download available through our exclusive premiere, you have very few reasons not to add this to your music library and keep a look out for more productions from AWE in the future. Enjoy

[PREMIERE] Gramatik – The Age Of Reason : Must Hear Electro-Soul / Funk Album

Posted in Album Review, Bangin, Chill, Premieres by nick | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Grimatik-The Age Of Reason

Brooklyn, New York based electronic producer / DJ Gramatik has kept us anxiously waiting for his biggest project to date, The Age Of Reason, which Thissongissick.com has the exclusive first listen of the album in its entirety! Denis brought a talented cast of singers and muscians for The Age of Reason; working with the likes of Cherub, ILLUMNTR, Orlando Napier, and his Lowtemp label-mates Gibbz and Exmag. Before layering his collaborators tracks with the perfect amount of bass and funk, Gramatik samples their various instruments to give each tune a unique live band anesthetic. My personal favorite is "Torture", a song which features the talented Eric Krasno on guitar and vocals. New addition to the project Eric Mendelson of Exmag plays guitar all throughout the album providing an undeniable soul to Gramatik. If you have caught Gramatik at a festival or venue over the past year, chances are you've heard some of these tracks. We are less then a month into the year and I will already claim this as being one of the best album releases of 2014. You can stream it in full below, and will be available for FREE download exclusively via torrenting the album at bittorrent.com Saturday!

Zeds Dead – Hot Sauce EP [Mad Decent] [Review] [TSIS PREMIERE]

Posted in Bangin, Mixtapes / Albums by nick | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Zeds Dead continue their strong and steady journey as musical artists and set 2013 off properly with the release of their “Hot Sauce EP”. It is easily their most daring to project to date and Diplo’s incredibly versatile Mad Decent record label couldn’t be a more fitting home to release this genre-venturing project from the Canadian duo.

Starting off the ride is “Demons”, acting as the perfect transition from the past Zeds Dead sound they are known for to the new foreign styles contained on the EP. It is an incredibly slow paced brutal banger filled with piercing spine rattling drops and retro horror samples. Next up “Mr. Sub” takes us down a refreshing techy jungle ride that is a complete 180’ in overall mood. This song, which is named after the group’s home country’s sandwich chain, provides a great stepping-stone towards the rest of the EP.  “Playa” is floor shaking, siren packed, rage filled inducing rave anthem that sounds unlike anything I have ever heard. Next up is the cleverly named “Rave”, featuring a revamped breakbeats track giving a tribute to the music that filled the UK rave scene. It let’s you get lost in the engulfing breaks while still carrying out the Zeds Dead flavor you crave. The closing track “Trouble” has the duo go back to the gritty slow paced glitch-hop sound they perfected on their past EP featuring Omar LinX, Victor.  The song revolves around a simple infectious piano line and drumbeat that is a slow yet powerful way to end the bold release.

All in all, the EP takes some huge risks, defying most of what is getting released right now. These are the bold signs of true artists who are leading the way, and not following the trends.  You can listen to the EP below, and purchase it through through Beatport and iTunes. Enjoy.
