We ‘ve been long time supporters of GRiZ, the saxophone playing electro-soul / future funk DJ that’s made waves over the past few years. The producer has a strong sense for fashion and has teamed up with one of our favorite clothing brands Akomplice for a very limited collaboration item. It is a fully customized varsity jacket that has actually been designed with full direction from Grant Kwiecinski (GRiZ) and includes USB dog tags which contain an unreleased track from GRiZ as well as his full discography. The item is going on sale now via Akomplice web-store and will only be printed once, so you are feeling it, we wouldn’t recommend waiting around.
CONTEST: We are also very excited to announce that we are going to be giving away one of these very limited pieces. All you have to do is enter our widget via e-mail / twitter / facebook / etc. for the contest below.

GRiZ has delivered one of the biggest gifts we could ask for this Tuesday with the release of his highly anticipated Rebel Era album. This release follows up his previous Mad Liberation LP and might actually exceed the record as GRiZ continues to develop his signature blend of live Electro-Soul. Rebel Era features 11 songs that span from gritty bass bangers to funky groove filled jams with Grant (GRiZ) even playing guitar on some tracks. The record includes featured guests Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic as well as newcomer funk trio The Floozies. For being only 23 years old, GRiZ has the potential to be one of the greats in our music culture and Rebel Era will only build upon the success he’s already seen. You can stream Rebel Era in its entirety below or purchase it on iTunes next week, but we recommend picking up a free download from GRiZ’s website today. GRIZ drops us off a change of pace with an extra fresh bootleg remix of ‘Heartbeat’ from Childish Gambino. He takes a stab a ‘Jersey Club’, filled with smooth soulful vibes, subtle effects inspired by Cashmere Cat / Trippy Turtle. It’s exciting to see how easily GRIZ can step outside of his signature electro-soul / future-funk styling yet deliver such an amazing track. This is released as a free download, possibly to tide us over as we patiently wait details on his new album Rebel Era set for a release this month.

Rising electronic star GRiZ releases his first ever music video to his huge funk powered festival anthem “Smash the Funk”covering his “brief voyage as an artist” and discussing his sound as being “Electro-Soul” or “Future Funk”. The video showcases the electronic producer’s first year leaving his home of Detroit / East Lansing and living in Boulder, Colorado.
In his words :
This video is a look into my brief voyage as an artist and also behind the scenes of three sold out Colorado shows (Boulder, Denver, and Red Rocks.) I also wanted to do something completely different and have fun with the video so I took some old gear that had seen its day and retired it to the shooting range (it looks pretty badass in slow motion). I also talk a bit about what music means to me and where I have come from. Nearing the first anniversary of my debut album Mad LiberationI wanted to release this video that has been a journey itself to create.”
