GRiZ – Too Young For Tragedy (Dj Green Lantern Remix) : Massive Trap / Hip-Hop Remix [Free Download] [TSIS PREMIERE]Posted in Bangin by nick | Tags: BANGER, Bass Music, DJ Green Lantern, Electronic, Free Download, Griz, Hip-Hop, Rap, Remix, Trap, Trap Music
Last fall GRiZ let loose a beast of a dubstep anthem “Too Young for Tragedy” on his free album Mad Liberation. Legendary hip-hop DJ and producer Dj Green Lantern (Nas , Eminem, Etc.) took the liberty of a doing an official remix of the song and giving it a proper trap / hip-hop treatment. For the beginning section the remix doesn’t stray to far from the original minus some additional drums and some additional vocals.. until the massive drop at around 2:15 spinning the song in a completely different light. It hits you in the face chopping the track up left and right never letting you catch your breathe till the middle section, then you get hit again. The track was debuted in Dj Green Lantern’s POTATO DJ Mix, and now he has been enough to let us pass out the free download of the anthem. Turn up the bass for this one, Enjoy!

This mix starts off with a massive official unreleased remix from DJ Green Lantern of “Too Young For Tragedy” by GRiZ, turning the melodic dubstep heater into a trap banger. Detroit transplanted to Colorado electronic muscian GRiZ has been teasing with his Grizmatik project and a collaboration with Big Gigantic, yet has kept his solo productions under wrap since his highly successful free album Mad Liberation released last fall. “Gettin’ Live” is the first single from his newest currently unnamed record. Right from the beginning the song packs a unique twist of bass and soul unlike anyone else. The song features some Django Unlimited samples as well as some guitar and sax work from GRiZ himself, and also features a guitar solo from Muzzy the guitarist on his last record. As if ‘Gettin Live’ didn’t have enough energy, around the 2:30 mark, he let’s loose one of the dirtiest sections he has ever created. GRiZ has drastically improved as a producer, and has most definitely not lost that funky flavor we love. He has been nice enough to give this song out completely for free. Look out for more about his upcoming record slated to release sometime before summer. Enjoy!

Whoaa… When GRiZ and Gramatik team up for their side project Grizmatik, incredible things happen. Today we get the preview of their latest massive single “My People”. We got the first taste with their Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom complete with music video, and this track might top it. They fuse funk, soul, and gritty bass unlike any artists I have heard. These two teaming up is an insane combination. you can hear both artists shine through heavily. Even though this is just a sample, you can tell it’s gonna be quite the anthem. Can’t wait for the release.
Also don’t miss their main stage performance at this year’s SnowBall Music Festival in Winter Park this weekend March 8th – 10th. Enjoy.

Big Gigantic – “Rowdytown 2012″ at Red Rocks Presented by Thissongissick.com Official Video Recap, Full Review & Photo Gallery (ft. Macklemore, Dillon Francis, GRiZ, Raw Russ) [REVIEW]Posted in Bangin, Events, Video by nick | Tags: 2012, Big Gigantic, Griz, Red Rocks, Rowdytown
I started the blog back in February 2010 and the site has never done a proper concert review to date. I have gone to countless concerts since creating the website, and they have played an instrumental part in discovering new music. This past summer TSIS had the pleasure of working with the Big Gigantic team on “Rowdytown” that took place at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater, which completely Sold Out.. and it even got voted Best Electronic event of 2012 in Colorado by Westword.. It was really amazing to be apart of such an amazing groups’ biggest moment to date. We have premiere of the official recap video and have done a full review of the event complete witha picture gallery (above and below). Leave a comment below if you made it out to the first ever Rowdytown, or what city you would like to see Rowdytown come visit next?!
Big Gigantic Official “Rowdytown” Recap Video
Rowdytown took place on September 29th 2012 at Red Rocks Amphitheater and was Big Gigantic’s first headlining Red Rocks show. Also on the lineup was seatlle hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, moombahton king Dillon Francis, rising new electro soul sax player GRiZ, and Boulder local turntablist Raw Russ. This was a lineup that we worked with the Big Gigantic team to help pick, and we felt it was incredibly diverse and offered a little something for everything, without ever getting boring. We wanted to create a show that got you out to Red Rocks early in the evening and let you enjoy it all night. We also worked with them to help prepare some of craziest production I have ever seen at Red Rocks. Projection mapping was done for the first time ever on the actual side of the Red Rocks (See above picture). This was a first in Red Rocks history, and it was EPIC. It wasn’t quite as bright as if you were in the first 20-30 rows, but if you were anywhere towards the top.. jaw dropping. The concert goer was completely immersed in a light filled “Rowdytown”.
The night started out with Raw Russ, boulder local and one half of the Elm & Oak team, and he got the night warmed up proper throwing down some fresh moombahton and trap to get everyone moving.
Then GRiZ (picture above), one of the most buzzed about electronic names in Colorado took stage, and despite his early time slot, he made it feel far later. He played an incredible set managing to get in almost every track off of Mad Liberation. Some other highlights included his “Welcome To Jamrock” bootleg as well as an unreleased RJD2 “Ghostwriter” remix that was amazing. He ended the monumental set in his career fittingly with “Better Than I’ve Ever Been”. That is until his cameo during the headliner Big Gigantic’s set later in the night.
Then moving on to the Hip-Hop of the evening we had Macklemore & Ryan Lewis put on and incredible live performance complete with live singers, trumpet players and all. They performed some of their iconic tracks off their, at the time, yet to be released debut album The Heist. They also played some past fan favorites like “And We Danced” and “Otherside”. Ben (Macklemore) was actually sick at the time, but didn’t let is show once on stage, really giving one of the best hip-hop performances I had seen all year. Macklemore even capped the show off for by giving TSIS a shout out at the end of his performance. Considering Macklemore was one of the reasons that the website actually included hip-hop, it left me with quite the smile.
Now on to the headlining act of the evening, Colorado’s new heroes, Big Gigantic. Dominic Lalli on Saxaphone and Jeremy Salken on Drums, all dressed in white took the audience on a roller coaster through just about every single genre. They dropped a variety of tracks off their recent Nocturnal album, as well as some huge crowd favorites off A Place Behind the Moon like “Sky High” “Limelight” and “Step Up”. They even broke out some of their crowd favortie remixes like “I Need A Dollar”. Towards the middle of their set Dominic brought out openening act GRiZ for a cameo to play one of his tracks “Mr. B (Featuring Dominic Lalli)”, and Dom and GRiZ’s new freshly released collaboration track “Power”. The crowd was engaged and raging from start to finish. You could see the pure joy and satisfaction on Dominic and Jeremy’s face and they played to their Sold-Out Red Rocks crowd. This was not your average set or show, it was truly one for the books. It was a night that everyone in attendance will remember for a long time to come. Big Gigantic left us knowing that this was just the beginning of something very Big and Gigantic.
We couldn’t have been happier to be involved with the Big Gigantic team and everyone involved in making this show possible. We can not wait to help bring Rowdytown to another city and see what happens. Please share your Rowdytown story below or if you could not make it tell use what city we should bring Rowdytown to next?
I have been wanting this track ever since it got debuted at Electric Forest Music Festival last summer during Big Gigantic’s closing set. It is MASSIVE bass heavy collaboration between Colorado electronic powerhouse Big Gigantic and the freshest new electronic star GRiZ. This track, “Power” packs quite a lot of power in the form of vicious synths and raw basslines. The massive edge is balanced out with soulful groovy essence of both artists. These are the two artists who are playing at Aragon Ballroom on New Years Eve in Chicago for a very special party presented by Thissongissick.com… which just completely SOLD OUT!! So what a better way to welcome in the new year early with their massive collaboration.. Looks like 2013 is the year of Power? Turn this up, grab the free download, enjoy!

I am proud to present to you the debut single from the new collaboration side projecet Grizmatik, comprised of Gramatik and GRiZ. These are both two of the most soulful, funky, electronic muscians I know, so having them both work together is a dream come true. We had the honor of debuting their live project at the Thissongissick Secret Set at Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, Michigan this past summer, alongside Dominic Lolli of Big Gigantic. Then they had their second show at a North Coast Festival after party at House of Blues in Chicago, which was sold-out mayhem.
“Digital Liberation is Mad Freedom” or “#DLIMF” for short is their debut single taking pieces from both of their recent album, GRiZ’s – Mad Liberation, and Gramatik’s #Digtal Freedom. This song packs such an amazing funky punch unlike one I’ve ever heard right from the start, then moves into a drop that hits you and won’t let up. This video captures all of their live shows to date, including a ton of their sold-0ut show at the House of Blues in Chicago. Sit back, enjoy the start of Grizmatik! Download coming soon, don’t worry guys!

Niiiiceee.. Remember the incredibly catchy “Du Du Doo” by Two Fresh? Well it just got an extra fresh remix from GRiZ. He is the talented young producer who recently released one of the best electronic albums of the year Mad Liberation, for free. He flips the smooth Two Fresh’s track into a funky bass heavy BANGER. Like most songs from GRiZ, the track takes many turns as it progresses. Around 2 minutes it enters a high pitched moombahton-esque break that will get you moving. All in all a very solid remix, and free download. Turn this up, enjoy!
