England native, Los Angeles transplant Mat Zo has been a familiar name on the site for quite some time now. He earned a spot on Porter Robinson's "Worlds Remixed" remix package and was featured for his flip of The Knocks' "Collect My Love" before that. Just yesterday though he announced the March 25th release date for his forthcoming album Self Assemble, which he has boldly decided to release through his own label Mad Zoo rather than his former purveyors Anjuna Beats and Astralwerks. Today he takes large strides towards independence with the first official cut off of the project called "Soul Food."
Aside from the standard house kick drum and clap serving as the backbone of the track, Mat Zo ensures "Soul Food" further establishes his ability to create innovative, disco influenced songs like noneother. As disco and new soul elements course through the songs pulsating veins, the British producer has yet again created an authentic house / disco sound that at no point feels half-hearted. And just as you think the song is coming to a close (around the 3:30 mark) Mat Zo revives the track with a tense build up and a head banging drop, worthy of countless replays. Chicago production duo Autograf have kept a nice flow of colorful original content with their success following “Dream,” “Metaphysical,” and “Running.” Now they’ve just finished their new Future Soup EP and have shared another vibrant original tune as the title track off the forthcoming project.
“Future Soup” brings a prominent, funky, deep bass line that rumbles throughout the track and really kicks in during the chorus. The house drums compliment the synth placements and infectious baselines while Patrick Baker's vocals are a nice combo alongside the catchy instrumental as this first track is already sounding like a hit! While their signature sound is apparent, they bring a new element on this track and we can’t wait to hear the entire 5 track EP due on March 11th. Stream their new track below and catch them on their Metaphysical Tour ; see the dates after the jump.
