Being a top dawg in an industry involves personal sacrifices and putting in the man hours to obtain, something iconic genre blending producers Zeds Dead can attest to having spent most of their time on the road delivering their captivating music to the masses year round while releasing new material steadily. Diplo's eclectic eye spotted their talent early on and signed D.C. and Hooks to his prestigious Mad Decent label, which has released 3/6 EP's from the duo including their brand new Somewhere Else EP out now!
I've talked in length on how the EP showcases a different, more versatile side of Zeds Dead production; their collaboration with Alt Rock / Indie friend Twin Shadow on "Lost You" took on a deep house design while "Hadouken" featured more of their well known dubstep and bass creation capabilities. The release is quite easy to digest in one sitting and contains a stunning bass-infused collaboration with fellow Toronto producer Memorecks "Collapse", the electro soul / chill bass single "Stone Caponed" featuring long-time MC partner Omar Linx and a sultry saxophone addition by Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic, and an electro / bass turnup with Dirytphonics and songstress Bright Lights titled "Where Are You Know" and a few others. Dare I say this EP is a must obtain addition to anyones music collection as Zeds Dead show how broadening one capacity to entice listeners through genre blending can have a positive outcome on their production.
