James Blake just revealed in an interview with The Miami Times that he will be releasing his sophomore studio album in early 2015, just a short 5 months away. He also revealed that the album is 70% complete and might even include a feature from Kanye West.
Here’s what Blake had to say about the record for Kanye: "We haven't done a great deal of work in the same room yet, but we've done a few things, kind of helped each other with our own music. In terms of the actual collaboration for this record, it looks like we should be able to get something done. I know that there's a specific song I would like him to be on, and if he can do that by the time my record comes out, that would be fantastic.”
Let’s not forget when James Blake and Chance the Rapper lived together earlier this year, which only leaves us hoping some sort of collaboration was created during that time that might make the album.
James also had this to add about experimenting with some new production techniques and feeling good about where he is at writing: "I guess I've taken a focus on the songwriting again, even more closely, and I'm dabbling in some different production techniques, things I've developed. A lot of things have changed in my life since the last record, and overall for the better, so I'm in a good place, I think. I'm in a good place to write in general, and I have been for quite a while."
James Blake will be performing the new tracks for the very first time on his upcoming American shows that are kicking off November 30th in Toronto ending in LA, You can see dates below.

One of the most unique and exciting projects in both electronic and live music will continue to be Gorillaz, represented by the virtual characters: Noodle, 2D, Murdoc Niccals, and Russel Hobbs. The Damon Albarn led project, after releasing 4 studio albums and some very special 9-piece band live performances, went on hiatus in 2012 leaving everyone wanting more. Previous Gorillaz tracks have included collaborations with countless big-name artists ranging from Snoop Dogg, to MF DOOM, to Del The Funky Homosapien, to Lou Reed. The hiatus was at first thought to be a falling out between frontman and singer Damon Albarn and other half of the project, Jamie Hewlitt, who is both the co-creator and animator, but these rumors have been lifted revealing they are on great terms.
Damon Albarn has just revealed official news in a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, as part of an article on his debut solo album Everyday Robots which is now available. In the piece, he mentions that the Gorillaz project is already in the process of "reactivating" for a potential 2016 album release.
This is huge news that we couldn't be more excited to hear, and hopefully we'll see new tracks roll out sooner then 2016. We've already begun speculating who Damon might be aiming to collaborate with on the new album considering the incredible cast of artists to have emerged in the past few years. What if they brought out someone like Kendrick Lamar or A$AP Rocky or even some singers like The Weeknd? We'll of course keep you posted as more details roll in. For now, enjoy a full stream of their iconic album Demon Days.
