Zeds Dead – Demons (Music Video)

Posted in Bangin, Video by nick | Tags: , , , ,

Zeds Dead dropped their extremely fresh Hot Sauce EP through Mad decent, and the first track was an eerie extra slow paced massive bass heavy banger. They matched the theme of song with fittingly horror themed video directed by Benjamin Millepied. The video follows some zombies who do a choreographed dance to the beat. A very original from the Canadian duo.

Zeds Dead – Hot Sauce EP [Mad Decent] [Review] [TSIS PREMIERE]

Posted in Bangin, Mixtapes / Albums by nick | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Zeds Dead continue their strong and steady journey as musical artists and set 2013 off properly with the release of their “Hot Sauce EP”. It is easily their most daring to project to date and Diplo’s incredibly versatile Mad Decent record label couldn’t be a more fitting home to release this genre-venturing project from the Canadian duo.

Starting off the ride is “Demons”, acting as the perfect transition from the past Zeds Dead sound they are known for to the new foreign styles contained on the EP. It is an incredibly slow paced brutal banger filled with piercing spine rattling drops and retro horror samples. Next up “Mr. Sub” takes us down a refreshing techy jungle ride that is a complete 180’ in overall mood. This song, which is named after the group’s home country’s sandwich chain, provides a great stepping-stone towards the rest of the EP.  “Playa” is floor shaking, siren packed, rage filled inducing rave anthem that sounds unlike anything I have ever heard. Next up is the cleverly named “Rave”, featuring a revamped breakbeats track giving a tribute to the music that filled the UK rave scene. It let’s you get lost in the engulfing breaks while still carrying out the Zeds Dead flavor you crave. The closing track “Trouble” has the duo go back to the gritty slow paced glitch-hop sound they perfected on their past EP featuring Omar LinX, Victor.  The song revolves around a simple infectious piano line and drumbeat that is a slow yet powerful way to end the bold release.

All in all, the EP takes some huge risks, defying most of what is getting released right now. These are the bold signs of true artists who are leading the way, and not following the trends.  You can listen to the EP below, and purchase it through through Beatport and iTunes. Enjoy.

Zeds Dead – Hot Sauce EP Minimix [Mad Decent]

Posted in Bangin, Mix / Playlist by nick | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Zeds Dead won’t stop making innovative electronic music that all manages to rattle your speakers and body a different way with every track. The Canadian duo featuring DC and Hooks are going to be releasing their Hot Sauce EP through Diplo’s Mad Decent record label on January 29th and let loose a fierce Minix sampling all 5 tracks. This follows up last year’s free Mad Decent mixtape release Victor ft. Omar Linx. Their new Hot Sauce EP features 5 intrumentals that all push the boundaries of who they are as artists.

As Mad Decent desribed the tracks: “From the opener, “Demons”, a nightmare inducing track with heavy, pulsating synths as well as keys and strings plucked straight from classic horror films to “Mr. Sub”, which displays a more minimalist approach from the duo with a bouncing bass and touches of space-disco synths and “Rave” a breakbeat monster that hits so fast they put in an audible breaths to remind listeners to take one themselves.”

Enjoy the Minimix and come back when it’s available for purchase January 29th.

This is only a preview to tide you over, but was too sick not to share. Also are two recent mixes of theirs, a MixMag Mix, as well as a Day of the Dead Mix in spirit of their set at Day of the Dead festival. Both feature new tracks, and a ton of surprises. Bon Iver – Woods (Zeds Dead Remix) : Must Hear Melodic Indie / Dubstep Remix [TSIS PREMIERE]

Posted in Bangin, Premieres by nick | Tags: , , , , ,

Last week we premiered Zeds Dead’s RinseFM mix, and at the end of the massive 50 minute mix they debuted their newest remake of a classic indie song “Woods” by Bon Iver. It’s an older track from the indie artist that might be familiar for being sampled in Kanye West‘s “Lost In the World”. Here’s some words from Zeds about reviving the old remix: “We did this tune a few years back but somehow lost the project on an old hardrive. It’s from a time where we were doing a lot of bootleg remixes that helped define our initial sound. We did so many tracks that got shelved for one reason or another but we always liked the vibe on this one. It turned up the other day, so we polished it up and are giving it away for free to celebrate.”  ”Zeds Dead takes listeners on a musical journey into the future by giving this indie track a bass-heavy electronic backbone.” They use the right amount of the original powerful vocals, with their signature dynamic edge. Don’t sit on this gem of a remix we are very glad they dug up and polished. Turn up this track, enjoy!

Posted in Bangin, Mixtapes / Albums, Video by nick | Tags: , , , , ,

Zeds Dead are back with a HUGE new EP featuring vocals from Omar LinX. The Living Dead EP just got released on Ultra Records and has 4 very different tracks all having a new sense of well roundness for ZD. Omar LinX’s vocals compliment the crunchy pounding bass lines from the DC And Hooks. The first 3 tracks on the EP all hit HARD, ranging from slower low key parts with Omar singing and rapping then crushing bass drops. Giving the EP some variety is “Cowboy” which features live guitar and drums, on top of Omar’s vocals making feel like a modern rock anthem fused with an electronic edge. We also have the premiere of the music video to the first track on the EP “Crank”, which might be the heaviest packing a drop is so epic you’ll find yourself playing the track over and over. The short high energy music video featuring some city shots blended with some raging live shots. Turn up the bass, let this EP kick, purchase on Beatport, enjoy!
