We’ve been impatiently awaiting new material as we get closer to the release of Flume’s much anticipated sophomore album Skin, and he holds us over with a fresh new cover. His forthcoming album follows up his highly successful 2012 self titled debut album, and we’ve already been blessed with singles “Smoke & Retribution” and “Never Be Like You” in addition to an album teaser and a recent downtempo mix he crafted for BBC.
He’s taken to BBC’s Annie Mac again to premiere a brand new cover of R&B singer Alessia Cara’s hit “Here.” Flume has taken on the incredibly catchy tune and produced an entirely new instrumental of the track bringing a more bass heavy flavor as he’s reworked an evolving beat beneath the vocals. Not only did he spice up the production with new eerie synth melodies and minimalist percussion, but he’s enlisted vocalists and recent album collaborators Kai and Kucka, who’ve respectively appeared on “Never Be Like You” and “Smoke & Retribution." The original’s lyrics were left unaltered as Flume’s collaborators take turns singing this new version of the popular song. Flume also debuted an unreleased/untitled original single on the radio show and you can hear it at 7:50 in the BBC player below. Enjoy!
