Today Ganja White Night released their highly anticipated album The Origins, marking their eighth full-length album release and another step forward. GWN got us very excited for this LP when they released their impressive collaboration “Samurai” with Zeds Dead just last week, giving listeners a taste of the cinematic, dubstep-heavy music to come. They also dropped a heavy 15-minute mix featuring clips of every track on the album, and we’re excited to get to listen to the whole project today.
The Origins starts out strong with its title track, ringing in the album with tribal chants that gradually give way to sweeping synth cuts and dark dubstep hits that make you feel like you’re in the middle of an epic battle. Another standout track is GWN’s collab with Caspa, called “Unique”. Featuring an almost eerie vocal sample that encourages listeners to “find their own voice” in order to get “a unique opportunity”, the track suddenly drops into a series of powerful bass waves with grinding synths layered on top. The album is peppered with reggae influence that adds a bouncy feel to these dubstep tracks, most pronounced in “Reminisce” with Boogie T. To hear GWN’s focus on creating a cinematic feel, check out “Tengri” a seven and a half minute long track that explores every aspect of the duo’s newest sounds.
Check out the album below and catch them on tour in North America right now. Enjoy!
