Rising Hip-Hop Producer Monte Booker Shares Soulful New Song “Don’t Panic” Ft. Kiya Lacey

Monte Booker is quickly rising as one of the most exciting new hip-hop producers to come out of Chicago, producing the majority of Smino's debut album (one of our favorites of the year) and releasing songs through Soulection.

For his latest track, "Don't Panic," he teamed up with Red Bull Sound Select for an interesting concept: the song is composed of samples recorded by Chicago residents. Throughout the song you can hear the crowdsourced sounds that people sent into Red Bull, including crowded streets, rainwater, and more that is attributed to the Windy City. Vocals are provided by Kiya Lacey to tie the song together, who is a jazz singer out of Nashville, TN with a beautiful, soulful voice. The end result is a different sound than the percussion-heavy hip-hop beats he is known for, instead creating a hopeful, sunny track that sounds more like spring than the upcoming cold Chicago winter. Enjoy!
