Run The Jewels Link With Statik Selektah On Laidback New Track “Put Jewels On It”

||

Run The Jewels were on a hotstreak of album releases from 2014-2016 with their RTJ trilogy, but have taken 2017 to focus on touring together. We've gotten a couple singles from them this year from the FIFA 18 Soundtrack and the soundtrack for the film Baby Driver, and we've just heard a third from the TSIS favorite duo that will be featured on Statik Selektah's forthcoming album, 8.

The new song “Put Jewels on It” is something different from the group, because their production is usually handled by one-half of the duo, El-P. This track is produced by Boston beatmaker Statik Selektah, best known for his work with Joey Bada$$ and Freddie Gibbs. In place of El-P’s aggressive production, the beat takes a more mellow approach and allows Killer Mike and El-P’s rhymes to shine over a classic sounding hip-hop instrumental.

Statik Selektah recently signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, and will be releasing his eighth studio album in December. Enjoy!
