TDE, home to Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, SZA, Isaiah Rashad and Lance Skiiiwalker, has revealed the newest member of their family after cryptically teasing him for a few months.
He goes by SiR and is based out of Inglewood, Calif. To celebrate the new addition, the label has released a new song called "W$ Boi" along with some tripped out visuals. The artist has a distinctly different sound than anyone on the TDE roster. SiR sings for most of the song which has a definite R&B influence.
Wanting to properly soak in the song, I listened multiple times back-to-back with each listen making me more a fan of the track and video...a great sign for a new artist. He secretly released the HER EP last fall with Kendrick supporting on Twitter ahead of the announcement that he was joining the label. Watch below and stay tuned on what's next from SiR. Enjoy!
UPDATE: SiR has quickly followed this up with another new single “Ooh Nah Nah” (below)
Just a couple days after he shared “W$ Boi”, he’s dropped another track “Ooh Nah Nah”, which is a soulful collaboration alongside Masego, who you might remember with his feature on Brasstracks’ "Melanin Man". This smooth single further displays SiR’s laid-back sound. The chill beat makes use of live instrumentation carrying a grooving melody allowing SiR to lay down his swaggy blend of singing and rapping. Enjoy!
