Just a few weeks after Kendrick Lamar hopped on Rich the Kid's "New Freezer," he is back with another guest verse today. This time he has teamed up with fellow Compton rapper YG Hootie on the new track "My City," an ode to the California city they both call home.
Kendrick Lamar and YG Hootie went to Centennial High School together in Compton, and their long-standing relationship really shows through the chemistry they have together. The West Coast G-Funk beat comes from DJ FU, who is signed to Mike Will Made-It's Eardrummers label. The two rappers sound effortless over his beat, both repping Compton to the fullest and showing that they will always continue to.
Kendrick has been showing love to many lesser-known rappers with his guest verses since his release of Damn., and this latest co-sign tells us that we should be paying attention to YG Hottie. His new project Hubris drops November 11th. Enjoy!
