Kasbo Drops Must Hear 13-Track Debut Album ‘Places We Don’t Know’ Via ODESZA's Foreign Family

places we don't know

As the smooth, DIY-style of indie music continues to intermingle with the technology-driven sounds of the electronic production, Swedish producer and TSIS favorite Kasbo consistently delivers some of the most feel-good yet danceable creations we've heard. His luminous signature sound is hard to nail down to any genre, finding a mesmerizing place of his own.

2018 is shaping up to be a great year for Kasbo, as today marks the release of his debut album Places We Don’t Know. The official hype for the project began in January with the release of single “Aldrig Mer” feat. TENDER, a track that comes alive with Kasbo’s mystical production and TENDER’s soft vocals. Singles “Your Tempo” and “Over You” feat. Frida Sundemo have followed, with 2017 releases “Snow In Gothenburg,” “Bleed It Out” feat. NEA and “Lay It On Me” feat. Keiynan Lonsdale joining the album today.

That leaves a healthy seven new songs to comprise the 13-track Places We Don’t Know, and they’re nothing short of incredible. “Bara Du,” a slower release with non-credited, gripping vocals and a steady growth of energy throughout, kicks the album off on a high note. Standout songs like “Roots” feat. Amanda Fondell keep things light with a starkly unique, bouncy drop, while the many moving parts of tracks like “About You” take listeners down a deeper route. And with some of the only male vocals on the entire project, “The Voice Says” feat. Charlie Kim could be the most compelling release of all with a mellow, but still radiant, production style.

Altogether, each piece of Places We Don’t Know comes together flawlessly to form one cohesive and alluring whole. The album has a concept capturing the wonders of our imagination when thinking of places we don't know as Carl has shared a touching letter to fans going into detail of the album concept below. With artists like Kasbo pushing their boundaries, the only direction for electronic music to go is up. Check out the full project below and enjoy!

Kasbo Shares Dreamy Indie/Electronic Single “Over You” Feat. Frida Sundemo Off Debut Album

Mystifying Swedish producer and TSIS favorite Kasbo is unstoppable – 2017 saw stunning singles such as “Found You” feat. Chelsea Cutler, a memorable performance at our inaugural beach party at Okeechobee, remixes that go toe-to-toe with originals such as his take on Jai Wolf’s “Indian Summer” and more.

The artist made it clear early on that 2018 will only be bigger and better, announcing his debut album Places We Don’t Know and dropping two singles off the project, “Aldrig Mer” feat. TENDER and “Your Tempo” following other tracks off the album like "Bleed It Out" and "Snow In Gothenburg" in addition to a shallou collab and the sophomore mix of his Cry / Dance series. Each offering takes his indie electronic signature sound to a more complex level, demonstrating staggering growth from the young producer.

Today Kasbo is back with the latest single off his debut album, “Over You” feat. Frida Sundemo. This stunningly tender release will grip you from the first second, leading in with hushed windchimes before Sundemo’s voice steps in with some gentle guitar chords. In typical Kasbo fashion, this intro builds slowly but surely into a drop that will hit you right in the feels and make you want to dance all at once, toeing the line somewhere between indie and electronic. Kasbo explores a wide range of sound with glowing synths, high-pitched vocal samples and a heartbeat-like core coming together to create a product that’s impossible to ignore.

With this single, the puzzle pieces of Places We Don’t Know continue coming together. This album is stacking up to be one of the best of the year, and we can’t wait to see what Kasbo gifts us with on March 23 via ODESZA's Foreign Family Collective / Counter Records. Stream “Over You” and check out Kasbo’s tour dates below. Enjoy!
