Mura Masa Drops Stunning Debut Self-Titled Album ‘Mura Masa’

Mura Masa Album

Over the past couple years, Mura Masa has rapidly risen to worldwide fame. The 21-year-old producer brings a take to electronic music that’s fresh for the industry, utilizing unexpected instruments like flutes, steel drums and xylophones to create a crisp, forward-thinking signature sound. Since the announcement of the release date for his debut, self-titled album back in April, Mura Masa has kept the anticipation high with release after release from the offering, including “All Around The World,” “Blu,” “Second 2 None,” “Nuggets” and “helpline,” all of which feature notable guest artists. July 14 is finally here, and with it comes the full release of Mura Masa’s highly anticipated album.

All 13 tracks on Mura Masa embody the unique signature that the young producer has developed for himself. It features a few tracks that he released throughout 2016 along with the five singles that came out in the past few months, as well as a handful of brand new material. “Messy Love” is one of these new tracks, and could be the best example of Mura Masa’s ability to layer vastly different elements into one beautiful harmony – the track features xylophone, bubbling sounds of water, harp, vocals, various percussion styles, psychedelic guitar riffs and masterful production to create a stunning finished product. “Who Is it Gonna B” feat. A.K. Paul is yet another impressive new release that effortlessly blends genres, incorporating sounds of nature, a primal percussion style and atmospheric vocals with the always-stellar production.

Even with many tracks already being released, this album still sounds fresh, unexpected and new. With it Mura Masa has solidified himself as a force to be reckoned with, and we can’t wait to continue seeing him grow as an artist. Check out Mura Masa below and enjoy!

Madeon - Porter

Porter Robinson and Madeon have unveiled their free-spirited collaboration, "Shelter". The song is rich in emotionally uplifting chords, high-pitched vocal chops -- brought to you by Madeon himself -- and glittery accents that provide a magical essence.

With respect to the collaboration, Madeon says:

“Both Porter and I started working with people in-person when we started making our respective albums and appreciated how much more collaborative you can get. Our intent was to make music that would reflect our friendship.”

Porter adds the following:

"I see enthusiasm and inspiration as the most important currency you can have when you’re making music. It’s this weird sensation of being drunk on your own confidence and excitement that leads to so many creative breakthroughs. That effect was really exaggerated when we were working together."

NAO Fuses Electronic & Soul Music in Debut 18-Track Album 'For All We Know'

NAO For All We Know Debut Album

From the moment we first heard NAO’s angelic voice, she caught our undivided attention. The captivating UK vocalist’s musical journey began with her first single in 2013 and has come full circle with her debut album For All We Know

For those unfamiliar with the talented artist, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Read our Catch Up Guide on NAO here and get up to speed on the musical journey leading to her biggest release to date.

At 53 minutes, For All We Know doesn’t outstay its welcome. NAO’s full-length debut showcases her unique sound with a polished, heartfelt display. She eagerly opens up with dazzling, sonic reflections on her personal romantic relationships setting the emotional tone across the offering’s 18 tracks.

Studying vocal Jazz at London’s Guildhall School Of Music & Drama, NAO has successfully infused a modern take on her classic schooling. Her silky, soulful voice places seductive tendencies atop coarse, warbling production maintaining an electronic core. The project’s genre-blending approach compliments pop sensibilities with funky, dance-driven baselines and burly, gruff synths combining for a futuristic twist on retro R&B trends.

While the album is worthwhile listening from start to finish, standout tracks include her breakout singles "Bad Blood" and "Fool To Love" in addition to the funk-soaked track "Happy" and "Get To Know Ya", a euphoric Jungle-produced song kicking the album off on a strong note.

NAO’s debut offering is confident and ambitious, yet vulnerable and honest at the same time. She’s positioned herself as one of modern soul’s most promising voices with her eager debut released via her own label, Little Tokyo Records.
