Exactly one week ago (August 25), 12th Planet shared some surprising news with the release of his new collaboration with Virtual Riot and Lumberjvck: that not only does he have a finished EP set for release, but that he would be joining the heavy-hitters on Disciple (home to Dubloadz, Virtual Riot, Barely Alive and more). This decision is nothing short of monumental for the American dubstep pioneer, as he has only released one full project since 2012. Today 12th has shared his brand new EP, Let Us Prey.
There's a little something for everyone on this latest offering from the LA-based bass producer. Starting off with an eerie spoken intro, the EP immediately takes on a dark, foreboding vibe. Filled with atmospheric plucks, glitched-out bass and piercing synths, 12th has taken inspiration from reggae, drum and bass and even future bass and included it throughout the EP’s five tracks, all while dialing in the incredibly heavy and sophisticated sound design we’ve come to know and love. With features from Jah Mikey, GG Magree and of course Virtual Riot and Lumberjvck, we couldn’t have hoped for anything more from the dubstep legend himself.
