Atlanta Rapper / Singer 6LACK Delivers 3 Impressive New Tracks Featuring BANKS And T-Pain

6lack banks t pain bonus tracks

Atlanta rapper / singer 6LACK amazed us last year with his impressive debut album, and today he has updated Free 6LACK with three brand-new tracks to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The new bonus songs appear at the end of the album, with features from female vocalist Banks and the legendary T-Pain.

The first of the three tracks, "Glock Six" fits perfectly with the mood set by the album with its dark melodies and sparse hip-hop instrumentation. He slows it down for the second one, "In Between" featuring Banks, choosing to sing the chorus together and alternating verses with her. The voices of the two work well together, and Banks especially sounds great with the layered auto-tuned vocals. We can only imagine how excited 6LACK was to work with the man who brought auto-tune into the mainstream on "One Way" featuring T-Pain, and it shows through the quality songwriting. He holds his own for the first half of the song with his impressive lyrics and vocals, and then T-Pain comes in and further cements his legendary status with his incredible singing and attention to detail.

6LACK recently announced that he will be taking a hiatus from touring to focus on being a father to his daughter that was born this year, and that he is working on new music. We can't wait to hear that, but until then we'll be revisiting the excellent Free 6LACK with these new songs. Enjoy!

Watch 6LACK Deliver Impressive Cover Of Erykah Badu's Classic "On & On"

6lack Erykah Badu

6LACK has been on a steep upward trajectory and shows no signs of slowing down. For his latest move, he’s covered Erykah Badu’s classic track “On & On.” His debut album FREE 6LACK blew us away last year as we impatiently await more material from the talented singer & rapper who has impressed us yet again.

Erykah Badu is a favorite of mine and it’s rare for a cover to do her original’s justice due to her incredibly unique voice. Well 6LACK has amazingly unique voice of his own and this proves to be the perfect fit for his cover he’s done with Triple J for their “Like A Version” series that has him alongside a drummer and keyboard player that has him impressing us yet again. A few nights ago 6LACK also made an appearance on the BET Award show for an amazing freestyle showing a different side from what new fans are familiar with. His freestlying abilities might come as a surprise, but he actually was involved with battle rapping for a while before his recent releases. Enjoy!

[PREMIERE] Rising Oakland Artist Pink Skies Shares Dreamy Cover Of 6LACK’s “Gettin’ Old”

Pink Skies 6Lack gettin old cover

Although his first appearance on TSIS came just a couple months back, Oakland-born artist Pink Skies, AKA Arieh Berl, has already impressed with his laidback fusion of genres that he describes as “Escapism Pop” – think psychedelic synth waves, dreamy vocal melodies and overall chill production that brings a nostalgic, ‘70s feel to the table. We premiered his debut single “Start.End” on the site back in July, an infectious offering that puts each of Pink Skies’s many talents, including guitar, production, singing and songwriting, in the spotlight.

Today we’re happy to be premiering yet another single from the artist, a cover of 6LACK’s “Gettin’ Old.” This track first premiered on 6LACK’s stellar debut album FREE 6LACK, and has quickly grown in popularity along with the rest of the 11-track R&B project.

Pink Skies turns “Gettin’ Old” on its head, with the only familiarity of the cover being the lyrics. The ethereal vocals mostly take a front seat throughout, minus a delicate xylophone solo that seamlessly weaves itself into the track midway. Pink Skies’s mellow voice floats effortlessly over each layer of production, with subtle guitar plucks, big synth melodies, unwavering percussion and more making timely appearances throughout. Once again Pink Skies shows his many talents with this track, and we can’t wait to see what else is to come for the young artist. Check out “Gettin’ Old” below – enjoy!
