Boombox Cartel Celebrate Day Of The Dead With Heavy Hitting "Dia De Los Muertos Mix II"

Boombox Cartel Dia De Los Muertos

Today we are celebrating the famed Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos, with a huge mix from Boombox Cartel. The duo has been unstoppable this year with their recent album, Cartel, containing singles such as “Alamo” and “Jefe,” and the remix album that followed. Today they’ve delivered one of their heaviest mixes to date with “Dia de los Muertos Mix II.

Boombox Cartel’s Day of the Dead mix is chock-full of high-energy bass music, including a variety of their own tunes as well as those from need-to-know acts in the game. From the get-go, we can hear their recent remix of Hudson Mohawke’s “Cbat,” and Candyland’s heavy trap flip of their tune “Phoenix.” Other heavy-hitters from Rickyxsan, Virtual Riot, Getter, and more fill the spaces in between.

In honor of this Mexican holiday, Boombox Cartel made sure to throw in some Latin hits such as Climax’s song “Za Za Za” and Don Omar and Lucenzo’s “Danza Kuduro.” With such an eclectic selection of tracks, the duo has shown that the best way to celebrate Dia de los Muertos is with this mix from Boombox Cartel. [PREMIERE] Candyland Shares Heavy Trap Remix Of Boombox Cartel’s “Phoenix”

Candyland Boombox Cartel

Boombox Cartel made some huge waves back in April with the release of their Cartel EP. And as numerous unofficial remixes have been surfacing over the past months, a remix EP was only speculation till the duo confirmed it at the beginning of the week. Today, we’re happy to bring you the first of many to come with the premiere of Candyland’s remix of “Phoenix”.

It’s been a while since we’ve had the pleasure of sharing this Santa Barbara-based producer’s music on the site. For her latest offering, Candyland has taken on the first track off of Boombox Cartel’s EP and flipped it into a trap monstrosity. Starting off with the gentle pad and arp from the original, a piercing synth and heavy kick progress the track into a powerful drop filled with metallic stabs, distorted bass and some hard-hitting percussion. Check out Candyland's remix of “Phoenix” below and enjoy!

Boombox Cartel Just Dropped A Heavy-Hitting Trap Remix Of Hudson Mohawke’s “Cbat”

Boombox cartel hudson mohawke

Remixing a Hudson Mohawke track is no easy task. As half of legendary duo TNGHT (who is currently working on new music) and one of the most diverse and inventive producers in hip-hop and electronic music, HudMo’s songs are almost too good to mess with. To our surprise though, Boombox Cartel decided to take on a HudMo oldie, “Cbat”, and we definitely aren't disappointed with the results.

From the duo that brought us such hits as “Jefe” and “Alamo” comes a trapped-out remix of a Hudson Mohawke classic. While it seems that only the intro was sampled from the original, Boombox Cartel’s take on of the unmistakable “Cbat” melody was masterfully done. The twisted combination of screeches, skittering percussion and a booming 808 makes for a true banger.

If you’ll be attending a Boombox Cartel show over the summer, definitely expect to hear this remix. Checkout Hudson Mohawke’s original “Cbat” and the Cartel’s new remix below. Enjoy!
