Lana Del Rey’s “Brooklyn Baby” Gets Chilling Electronic Cover From The Code [Free Download]

Lana Del Rey Brooklyn Baby The Code Remix

Mysterious UK production collective The Code have offered a sedated R&B take on Lana Del Rey’s “Brooklyn Baby” off her 2014 Ultraviolence LP. The intriguing group has found their way on TSIS in the past for their “Gravity” collaboration with G Eazy, their remix of Calvin Harris’ “How Deep Is Your Love” and our premiere of their original track “Mood (Find You)”.

The Code has been building momentum on each of their offerings and continues to show promise on this hazy version of “Brooklyn Baby”. The original’s organic instrumentation is flipped alongside abrasive, buzzing synth lines and punctual percussion to highlight the cover’s woozy vocals. The Code further showcases their ability to reconstruct songs from the core as they’ve reimagined “Brooklyn Baby” to make it their own. Grab the free download below and enjoy!

Flume's "Never Be Like You" Receives Impressive Cover From Marco Foster & Nikö Blank

Flume's "Never Be Like You" Receives Impressive Cover From Marco Foster & Nikö Blank - Featured Image

The anticipation surrounding Flume's forthcoming, sophomore album Skin continues to grow everytime we play back the two lead singles "Never Be Live You" and "Smoke & Retribution." The former recently received official remix treatments from the likes of Wave Racer and Disclosure, but today we have two relative unknowns who've created something quite fresh with their chilled-out production.

Producer Nikö Black reworks the original with smooth, future bass arrangements and melodic percussion builds while NYC singer Marco Foster showcases his vocal range in place of Kai's sultry tones. The pair combine talents quite nicely and have captured a new energy that feeds into the album's hype.

Kanye West’s “Heard ‘Em Say” Receives Must Hear Cover From G Eazy

Kanye West’s “Heard ‘Em Say” Receives Must Hear Cover From G Eazy - Featured Image

While Kanye West’s The Life Of Pablo has been taking much of hip hop’s recent spotlight, G Eazy decided to bring attention to one of Kanye’s older tracks. He’s decided to take on “Heard ‘Em Say” off Kanye’s 2005 Late Registration album which he's delivered via BBC's 1Xtra Live Lounge.

While the original song features Adam Levine, Maroon 5’s frontman, this new cover brings on vocalist Anne Marie to deliver the hook. G Eazy pays respect with his version of the classic tune while swapping lines about Kanye’s Chicago hometown to reflect his own upbringing in Oakland. This is the first we’ve heard from G Eazy since his album When It’s Dark Out which dropped in December and we can't wait for what's next! Listen below and enjoy.
