Daft Punk Releases Infectious New Single “Overnight” With Rising Australian Group Parcels

Daft Punk Parcels Overnight

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen new music from legendary duo Daft Punk. Although 2017 has brought their first live performance in years at the Grammys and a co-production spot on Arcade Fire’s “Everything Now,” we haven’t heard that signature Daft Punk disco sound in a while – that is, until today. They teamed up with Parcels, a rising group from Australia, to release “Overnight,” an intoxicating new single produced by Daft Punk with Parcels helping in co-production and co-writing.

The result is a bubbly, funky tune guaranteed to get you moving. “Overnight” definitely has a nostalgic feel to it with its old school synths, light guitar melody and percussion style, yet the production is crisp and forward-thinking at the same time. The vocals are silky smooth and the overall sound of the track brings you back in the best of ways. Check out “Overnight” below and enjoy!

This 15-Piece Orchestra Put Their Own Spin On Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"

daft punk portrait

This 15-piece German orchestra did a cover of Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” and put a whole new spin on the dance classic. Hosted on the German late-night talk show Neo Magazin Royale, the Radio-Dance Orchestra of Ehrenfeld (Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld) performed their cover live, complete with horns, strings, bass, guitar, drums, and of course, the Rocktron Talk Box.

In between Talk Box/keyboard player Lorenz Rhode’s robotic vocals, the orchestra unleashes a flurry of horn hits and bows of their strings. All the elements come together for a funky crescendo before a sax breakdown. The instrumentalists combine once more as Rhode lays out a groovy solo to end the song. Enjoy!

This single is incredibly catchy from the vocals to the instrumental as they capture a breezy summertime vibe that will have you tapping your feat. The track makes uses of an infectious key melody joined by slick guitar riffs and some sort of woodwind instrument all coming together for an uplifting, pleasant tune as Daft Punk proves to be the perfect match for Arcade Fire.
