It’s always a treat to get to dive into a producers past and experience their rise through firsthand accounts. With electronic music as wide and vast as it is, many of us tend forget that DJ’s only spend a fraction of their careers on stage - and the rest we rarely hear about. But today we’ve received something special, as RL Grime and Diplo just sat down to give us some insight into their musical journeys in a new impromptu video interview.

With RL having dropped his highly-anticipated album NOVA and Diplo recently announcing the final Major Lazer album, this new interview couldn’t have come at a better time. Touching on how they met, the origins of trap, early starts as producers, the visions behind their music and lots more, the two really just shoot the shit for 20+ minutes straight and we’re loving it. Diplo Reveals That The Next Major Lazer Album Will Be Their Last

diplo major lazer

With 2018 marking 10 years of Major Lazer, it goes without saying that the group has had an overwhelming influence on electronic music. With billions of streams, countless awards and a continuous stream of incredible releases from the trio, it seems the era of Major Lazer may be coming to an end.

This news comes to us from a very recent Complex interview with Diplo where the ML boss let it be known that in addition to their recently released singles “All My Life”, “Orkant/Balance Pon It” and “Tied Up”, there will be a lot of new content coming from the trio over the next year - including their apparent final project.

Set to drop sometime in 2019, Diplo said the upcoming Major Lazer album will feature "a bunch of stuff you haven't heard like that we made the last ten years. Next year marks our last album, so we got a lot of stuff in between now and then." With the reasoning that Diplo has “other side projects, like LSD with Sia and Silk City,” already in full swing, it makes since why the superstar producer has released little of his own original music over the past year, but even considering Diplo will have a lot to focus on with much of the music he’s been working on in silence reportedly be dropping soon, the end of Major Lazer will be hard to come to terms yet. Diplo Announces He & Flume Will Be Going B2B At Burning Man 2018 + Sets From Skrillex, ZHU & More

diplo flume

With Burning Man having just begun, we knew we would be in for some incredible performances, but definitely couldn’t have predicted a Diplo & Flume B2B. With Flume having dropped an incredible documentary earlier this year and Diplo coming off a ridiculous HARD Summer performance with Dillon Francis, we couldn’t think of a better way for the two to close out the summer. Diplo x Flume definitely won’t be the only action packed event at the burn though, as  ZHU, Skrillex, Seven Lions and many more will also be throwing down over the coming week.
