Justin Martin Finally Releases Anticipated Heavy House Remix Of Strafe’s “Set It Off”

Dirtybird fans never thought they would see this day. Co-founder of the Dirtybird crew, Justin Martin, is infamous for sitting on some of the best music he’s ever created. That’s why their fans were stunned when he announced that he would be releasing one of his most elusive tracks on October 12th.

The track is a remix of a classic, Strafe’s “Set It Off.” It’s sped up to 120 BPM and chopped into a breakbeat rhythm, and its everything we love about Justin Martin. He’s known for making beautiful tracks with heavenly melodies, but at the same time including seriously heavy bass that can have you grooving and tearing up at the same time.

Justin still has a handful of highly coveted tracks that he’s holding onto. We can only hope that they follow suit and get an official release one day just like this has. Take a listen to Justin Martin’s brand new remix below, and you’ll see why we’ve been waiting for this one for so long.

Stream the track below and enjoy!

PREMIERE | Christian Martin Shares Grimey House Remix Of Fellow Dirtybird Member Justin Jay’s “Drive”

Almost a full year ago, Justin Jay released his debut album, Home, via his very own Fantastic Voyage record label. Although Justin Jay felt that it was appropriate start heading in his own unique direction, he is still a very much revered and beloved member of the Dirtybird clan. That’s why when he decided to drop a remix album of Home (which drops tomorrow), he tapped multiple Dirtybird producers to put their own spin on his tracks.

Among those producers is founding member Christian Martin (older brother of Justin Martin), who was given the opportunity to remix “Drive,” perhaps one of the most dancey tracks on the album. “Drive” originally featured an acid synth lead that rose and sunk throughout the track while a bassy kick drum pounded hard, approaching levels of energy that are normally found in techno.

Christian Martin makes amazing use of the acid influences as well as Justin Jay’s distorted vocals to create a filthy little breakbeat number that will light up any dancefloor. Listen for yourself below and enjoy!

Justin Jay Drops Incredible House Remix Of Walker & Royce’s Infectious “Take Me To Your Leader”

Justin Jay is simply the king of vibes. Walker & Royce’s track “Take Me To Your Leader” out via Dirtybird was an impossibly infectious track that lit up the summer last year, yet Justin Jay managed to find a way to invoke even more positive expression out of the tune. His remix of “Take Me To Your Leader” just dropped, and at the perfect time. This beautiful piece of music will help you squeeze the last drops out of summer.

Like most things Justin Jay does, this remix is incredibly unique. The first part of the track is nearly its own piece of music, entirely separate from the original (besides some vocals). As it progresses, more elements of the original begin to emerge until the unmistakable melody is brought in during the breakdown. The remix takes off from there, with Justin Jay’s work and the Walker & Royce elements playing around with each other until the end. It works so well that we could loop this thing for the rest of the day and be entirely content.

This “Take Me To Your Leader” remix was released as part of a remix album for Walker & Royce’s Self Help LP (one of our favorite electronic albums last year), which featured other familiar Dirtybird artists like Justin Martin, Ardalan, J. Phlip, and more. The whole EP is definitely worth listening to, but this is the clear the stand out.
