Watch 6LACK Deliver Impressive Cover Of Erykah Badu's Classic "On & On"

6lack Erykah Badu

6LACK has been on a steep upward trajectory and shows no signs of slowing down. For his latest move, he’s covered Erykah Badu’s classic track “On & On.” His debut album FREE 6LACK blew us away last year as we impatiently await more material from the talented singer & rapper who has impressed us yet again.

Erykah Badu is a favorite of mine and it’s rare for a cover to do her original’s justice due to her incredibly unique voice. Well 6LACK has amazingly unique voice of his own and this proves to be the perfect fit for his cover he’s done with Triple J for their “Like A Version” series that has him alongside a drummer and keyboard player that has him impressing us yet again. A few nights ago 6LACK also made an appearance on the BET Award show for an amazing freestyle showing a different side from what new fans are familiar with. His freestlying abilities might come as a surprise, but he actually was involved with battle rapping for a while before his recent releases. Enjoy!

Dave Chappelle Announces NYC Shows Ft. Childish Gambino, Erykah Badu, The Roots & More

Childish Gambino Dave Chapelle

Radio City Music Hall in New York City will be the new home to famed comedian Dave Chappelle for the month of August…. Also, he’s recruited an incredible group of performers to join him throughout his residency including Childish Gambino The Roots, Chris Rock, Erykah Badu, Trevor Noah and Ali Wong.

Chappelle announced his massive residency today and the joint show with Childish Gambino has us particularly excited as Gambino recently announced at Governor’s Ball that his next album will be his final project as Childish Gambino. Donald Glover has been everywhere lately… as he follows his album success and award-winning FX show Atlanta with this exciting news.

Dave Chapelle has always had close ties to the music community and recently shared high praise for Donald Glover saying "I can’t keep up with all the shit he’s doing, but it’s all damn good. That he can do it all blows me away." Donald being a comedian himself opens up some cool opportunities for an incredible collaborative appearance from these two.

The show that features Childish Gambino will take place on August 19th. However, this is just one of many shows that Dave Chappelle is hosting with many more impressive guests… See the full list below:

As a black Friday treat, we’ve received the much anticipated release of Erykah Badu’s new mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone. This legendary soul singer has mostly remained quiet since her last major release back in 2010.

Erykah surprised everyone with an unexpected feature from none other than Outkast’s Andre 3000 on "Hello," who is also the father of her child. Besides "Hello" Erykah has remained incredibly elusive with her lack of new releases. In addition to getting Andre involved, Erykah did a remix of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” titled “Cel U Lar Device” and actually welcomed Drake into the studio to work alongside her.

The 11-track album is a pleasant and relaxing listen from start to finish as she blends her soulful vocals with hip-hop instrumentation and psychedelic soundscapes for a sound that Erykah dubs as “TRap & B.” Her mixtape is currently available to stream on iTunes music until 12/4 where it will become available via other outlets. Stream the project below via Datpiff and enjoy.
