Listen To Vince Staples New 'Big Fish Theory' Album Ft. Kendrick Lamar, Flume & More

Big Fish Theory

Vince Staples has just released his sophomore album Big Fish Theory and further demonstrates his consistency and versatility. The album includes previously released singles "BagBak," "Big Fish," and "Rain Come Down."

While the album is only 35 minutes long, he is able to fit in tons of hooks, verses, and collaborators to make a tight, concise project. Features on the album include Kendrick Lamar, Flume, Kučka, Damon Albarn (of Gorillaz), Ty Dolla $ign, and many more. The album is much more dance-heavy than his debut, and Vince really shows that he can rap over anything. The prominent basslines take the forefront of many of the beats, backed by heavy synths and production unlike any other hip-hop album this year.

Album standout "Yeah Right" features technical verses from Kendrick Lamar and Vince Staples over a wild beat made by Flume & SOPHIE, that sounds more like "Wall Fuck" than anything else Flume has done recently. Kučka brings the track together with a bridge about authenticity before Kendrick's dizzying verse that will immediately have you hitting repeat to hear all of his flow switches and rhyming patterns. We highly recommend the album from start to finish and will have this on repeat all summer. Enjoy!

Lorde Drops Sophomore Album 'Melodrama' With Production By Flume

Lorde Flume

After a long break in between albums, Lorde has shared her sophomore LP Melodrama. The 11-track album is first since her debut in 2013.

The best surprise about the project has a Flume production credit on the track “The Louvre”. The collaborative effort wasn’t known until the project dropped and Flume congratulated Lorde and revealed his involvement on the track. Flume remixed Lorde’s “Tennis Court” years back so the two working together doesn’t come as a shocker, but is a pleasant surprise. The song uses a minimal instrumental as we can hear Flume’s influence with a more experimental portions of glitchy sound design. Lorde picks up where she left off years ago with a matured sound and direction on her latest. Stream below and enjoy!

Listen To Flume’s Surprise New Release “Hyperreal” Feat. Kučka

Flume Press Shot

Australian musical icon Flume just surprised us all by dropping a new song with fellow Aussie producer/singer Kučka. Listeners may recognize Kučka’s voice from "Smoke & Retribution", one of the singles that was released prior to Flume’s sophomore album Skin

This latest single combines Flume’s signature sound and experimental production methods together with Kučka’s unique voice, creating an unpredictable experience. Starting off with a wonky panned synth and some pulsing percussion, Kučka’s soft vocals layer in, becoming stretched and distorted as the song builds. Halfway through the track, some abrasive feedback takes over before releasing into a dark atmospheric pad, progressing the song forward.

We’re definitely impressed with this release and hope that it means more new music from Flume is on the way. Listen to “Hyperreal” (feat. Kučka) below and enjoy!
