Goldlink’s “Crew” Receives Soulful Remix From Lido

Lido Goldlink

If you’ve been keeping up with TSIS even in the slightest, you know that we’re big fans of both Lido and Goldlink. From his collaborations with KAYTRANADA and Anderson .Paak to his debut studio album At What Cost, Goldlink has been absolutely killing it over the last year. Now, nine months after its initial release, Goldlink’s standout album single “Crew” (feat. Brent Faiyaz & Shy Glizzy) has received a remix treatment from one of our favorite electronic composers, Lido.

Released as part of a 5-track remix EP, Lido takes thing in a, well, Lido direction for his second time remixing Goldlink. Starting off with a soulful piano track, Lido lends his own voice to the song’s chorus, blending r&b, gospel, future bass and trap elements throughout the remix for a truly unique audio experience. Lido’s multi-genre influences and use of unconventional samples (such as a cough/bullet casing in his Portugal. The Man remix and car alarm beeping in this one) have become an incredibly distinctive recurring element that we can't get enough of. Check out Lido’s “Crew” remix below and enjoy!

GoldLink Covers Outkast's "Roses" In Impressive Live Video [Watch]

GoldLink OutKast Cover

GoldLink, who is behind recent collaborations such as “Boo You Know” with Falcons and “Let’s Go” with Khalid, has covered Outkast’s legendary song “Roses” on BBC Radio 1 and it is everything one could hope for. A frequent TSIS favorite, GoldLink released his debut album titled At What Cost this past march and since has become one of the hottest growing hip-hop artists in the game. He is an incredibly versatile artist, able to modify his voice to fit the theme of any song as he exhibits in this cover.

The cover definitely does the original justice, keeping the integrity but making the GoldLink touch inevitable. He sings the song incredibly well, showing to viewers that he is more than just a rapper, but rather a skilled vocalist and artist. The cover is, for the most part, the same as the original. However, receives an original verse from Hare Squead, who have worked with GoldLink in the past on tracks such as “Herside Story”. Enjoy!

Falcons and GoldLink Team Up On Chill New Track “Boo You Know”

GoldLink Falcons

Falcons and GoldLink have teamed up for a third time on their newest collaboration “Boo You Know.” Their previous tracks together “Vroom” and “Aquafina” have garnered millions of plays on SoundCloud. “Boo You Know,” the duo’s second release on A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Records, is a huge follow up to their past collaborations.

The track starts off with sample “Boo you know I love you” from Cuban Link’s song “Still Tellin’ Lies,” which repeats throughout. Falcons’ signature future bass meets hip-hop production is distinct as massive chords reverberate in the background creating a unique ambience for GoldLink’s vocals. In between samples, GoldLink raps about his many long-distance relationships, from Toronto to New Orleans.

GoldLink’s casual flow makes the perfect fit for Falcons’ chill atmosphere, which is maintained with gliding synth notes. Double-time drums come in shortly before the outro before bringing back the arrangement from the beginning. “Boo You Know” is a funky addition to Falcons and GoldLink’s repertoire that is sure to make its way to all your relaxing, poolside parties this summer. Enjoy!
