Gorillaz Announce New Album For 2018

Gorillaz New Album 2018

After years of being quiet, Gorillaz returned in 2017 with their ambitious new album Humanz. Now the group have announced they plan on sharing another new album in 2018.

It had been since 2010 that we heard a full project from the band brought to us by Damon Albarn and animator Jaimie Hewlett and it looks like they’re not stopping anytime soon. Hewlett recently spoke to Tashcen where he revealed they’re working on different sounds “I’m inventing a new style for the next Gorillaz album,” he explains. “Damon [Albarn] started to send me demos for new songs quite early on and that’s exciting, to hear the new direction.” We’re excited to hear what direction they take with this new one so stay tuned. Gorillaz Share Funky New Version Of “Andromeda” Feat. DRAM Following Recent Grammy Nomination

DRAM Gorillaz

2017 has been a hell of a comeback year for Gorillaz. Between dropping their 26-track Humanz album to spearheading their Demon Dayz festival (find that performance here) and everything in between, the group has gone above and beyond to ensure the most holistic music-listening experience possible for their fans.

One of the most loved songs off Humanz was no doubt the out-of-this world “Andromeda” feat. DRAM, and after their recent Grammy nominations for both Best Dance Recording and Best Alternative Album, the group has shared an alternate version of the track. This version takes things in a funkier, more 80s-infused direction that features much more of DRAM’s silky smooth vocals. The lush synth melodies and fast-paced percussion make for a slightly more upbeat vibe that goes toe-to-toe with the original in its own unique way.

This version of “Andromeda” is off the Humanz Super Deluxe Vinyl Box Set, which you can purchase here. For now, stream the new track below and enjoy!
