GRiZ And Gramatik Reunite As Grizmatik And Share New Single “As We Proceed”

GRiZ and Gramatik have joined forces as Grizmatik once again! Incredible things happen whenever these two team up and their latest collaborative effort titled "As We Proceed" is their first release in years and builds on past success as they follow up past collaborations "My People" and "#DLIMF".

As We Proceed is about continuing to hold on to the feelings of love and positivity even in the face of such negativity. It’s a piece of encouragement for those feeling the weight of our current cultural climate. -- GRiZ

It’s been a few years since we last heard a new Grizmatik song, and they return to form bringing the funk on “As We Proceed”. There’s no shortage of live instrumentals on this collab as the layering of slick keys and jazzy sax melodies combine with the electronic production for a smooth listen. The rumbling bassline and funky synthesizers pair with gritty bass tones during the drop that all come together so well. Grizmatik has played a handful of shows together and will reunite at Buku this year.

[PREMIERE] Gramatik's "Native Son Prequel" Receives Soulful Trap Remix From MYRNE

Gramatik - Native Sons Prequel (MYRNE Remix) [Cover Art]

Rising Singapore based producer MYRNE has delivered his hybrid trap and future bass take on Gramatik's single, "Native Son Prequel". The official remix is fueled by a funky guitar bassline, jazzy riffs and punchy percussion that gives the production an extra bite to it. MYRNE says he's been a fan of Gramatik since his early high school days. Here's what he had to say about the remix opportunity:

In a bizarre twist of events, from listening to Gramatik's Expedition 44 & Street Bangers series as a high school freshman (which really set the groundwork for my approach to funk-infused electronica), to having him personally reach out for a remix was surreal. I had the entire Epigram record to choose from, and my ears were out for this one because of the soulful, tongue-in-cheek vocal. I kept most of the swing from the original record, while giving it a overpowered, gospel-esque boost. Play this one loud!! -- MYRNE

The up-and-coming artist beautifully implements funk, soul and gospel elements into one cohesive package that lands an official slot of Gramatik's "Native Son Prequel" remix package on Lowtemp Music. Listen to the premiere of MYRNE's rendition below and grab a free download while it lasts. enjoy!

Watch Big Grizmatik Debut A New Song & Bring Out Funk Legend George Clinton

Big Grizmatik S camp 2016

The exciting electronic supergroup consisting of Big Gigantic, GRiZ and Gramatik is something very special to witness in person, and this past weekend we had the honor of doing just that. Summer Camp music festival has been a staple camping music festival in the Mid-West part of the the US and just commenced it's biggest year to date. The closing headlining set of the festival featured the previously mentioned Big Grizmatik, and boy did they bring it.

The 5 member band (Dom and Jeremy of Big Gigantic, Grant and Muzzy of GRiZ and Gramatik) played a seamless collection of some of each individual's best solo work and some of their previous collaborations. But some of the stand-out moments were when we heard live debuts of some much hyped collaborations. The first included the long-awaited third Grizmatik song, leaving us with much anticipation for release dates.

To top all of this off, the group even managed to bring out living funk legend George Clinton to play out one of the most iconic funk anthems of all time "We Got The Funk." Midway during the song it was truly special watching George Clinton take the mic and bring it to both Grant and Dom playing the sax, which felt like the figurative passing of the funk torch to the new current living funk gods.

Watch clips below and stay tuned for more Big Grizmatik news. Enjoy!
