J. Cole Confirms That There Is No Collaboration Album With Kendrick Lamar + More In New Interview

J. Cole Confirms No Kendrick Album - Featured Image

J. Cole just recently sat down with Angie Martinez for an extended, 90-minute interview that took place before Cole’s performance in Miami, Florida at Rolling Loud. The interview covered a broad range of topics, but included some crucial tidbits of information that caught our attention.

The juiciest piece of news that we got from J. Cole is unfortunately pretty disappointing. The rumored and highly anticipated collaboration album with Kendrick Lamar, that Ab-Soul seemingly confirmed, in fact does not exist. Cole goes on to comment on how he thinks Ab-Soul got confused:

“[Ab-Soul] might be talking about when we originally got to work. This was years ago... we just did a few songs, a bunch of ideas, put it like that. You wouldn't call it an album, nothing like that." - J. Cole

Cole also stated how there aren’t any plans to bring it to fruition any time soon. Over the years, many members of TDE have teased the joint project between the hip-hop heavyweights. However the group of jokers, were doing just that - making jokes.

In the same interview, however, J. Cole did confirm that he is the mysterious kiLL Edwards that is featured on his album KOD (which was certified gold in under a month)He also confirmed that he is already working on a full-length studio album that will be released under that name. J. Cole went on to explain how he felt like he was being pigeonholed into talking about himself while rapping under the name J. Cole, and that kiLL Edwards would provide a fresh, new way for him to channel his creativity.

Stay tuned for more news regarding the kiLL Edwards project, and watch the full, extended interview with Angie Martinez below. Enjoy!

J Cole KOD

J. Cole’s new album KOD is here! After just announcing the project a few days ago he’s back with the full 11-track LP as his fifth full-length studio album. J. Cole is known for going platinum with no features on his recent albums and keeps this up on his latest…. sort of. He has two tracks featuring kiLL edward, which is actually still just J. Cole but with vocal effects and a different vibe from what we normally hear from him.

The project's title stands for a few different things including  "Kidz On Drugz," "King Overdose" and "Kill Our Demons." He put out a trippy album trailer putting some context to the story and meaning the album takes, which you can see below.  Check out the full album below and enjoy!

TDE President Punch Teases Rumored Joint Project Between Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole

j cole kendrick lamar

For many years there has been talk about a mythical collaborative album from the likes of Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. They have been teasing the project ever since their song together called “Forbidden Fruit” and now the speculation has arisen once again.

This time we can thank TDE’s Punch for bringing up the long-awaited project that we don’t even know exists. On the eve of J. Cole’s new, just announced album, Punch took to Instagram sharing a picture of a fruit with the caption “4bidden” hinting at the album from Kendrick and J. Cole we’ve been waiting for. The last time rumors about this collab album were swirling was back in November 2015 when Kendrick and Cole both shared freestyles over each other’s instrumentals at the same time. It’s crazy that years later TDE is still teasing fans about the potential project without confirming or denying its existence. While Punch might just be fucking with us all, there might be something here and we’ll just have to wait and see.
