Jerry Folk Shares Soulful, Bouncy New Single “Make A Wish” & Describes It As Kaytranada Type Beat

Jerry Folk Kaytranada Make A Wish

If you’ve been following us for a while, chances are you’ve seen Jerry Folk pop up quite a few times over the past couple of years. But from refreshing remixes to his unique, funky originals, the Oslo-born producer barely gives us a chance to catch our breath between releases. Even having recently dropped incredible remixes of Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex” and Charlie Puth's "How Long", he’s already returned with his first original of 2018 - “Make A Wish.”

Jerry definitely channels his inner Kaytranada for this latest soulful offering. Starting off slow with some soft chimes and a sample from the 1971 Willy Wonka, some gentle sax and a thumping kick quickly progress the track into a groovy chorus filled with retro, talkbox vocal chops, energetic percussion and a bouncy bassline. It’s no wonder Jerry’s describing this as “kaytranadatypebeat.wav”. Check out “Make A Wish” below and make sure to catch Jerry Folk on his US tour starting Feb. 7 (tickets here). Enjoy!

Jerry Folk Impresses With Playful & Funky Remix Of Charlie Puth's "How Long"

Leave it to Jerry Folk to take a pop single and funk it up. The Norwegian native is making big moves this winter with his North American “Foreign Affair Tour” alongside fellow producer SAINT WKND. These shows come off the heels of what was an undoubtedly great year for Folk in which he rocked SoundCloud with a string of refreshing remixes of his favorite tracks like Post Malone’s “Rockstar” and dropped his innovative Purple Feelings mixtape that landed him an honorable mention on the TSIS Top 20 Electronic Albums Of 2017 list (if only it were a full album!).

Now Jerry Folk has taken on Charlie Puth’s hit single “How Long”, chopping, distorting, and bending Puth’s vocals to make a versatile instrument that dominates the track with irresistible hooks and clever percussive sections. One of the most satisfying moments in the track comes near the end when Folk caps off an emotional vocal solo and slow build up with a layered breakdown of vocal chops that flawlessly breaks into an addictive beat accented by a high-pitched ding – like he’s celebrating he nailed the drop.

Catch Jerry Folk on tour in North America with SAINT WKND and be on the lookout for more amazing beats from the young producer. Enjoy!

Jerry Folk Drops Funky, Soulful Flip Of Jeremih’s Throwback Hit “Birthday Sex”

Jerry Folk

If you’ve been sleeping on Jerry Folk this year, it’s time to wake up. The man just continues to drop more fire for us for 2017. Back in June of this year, the Norwegian producer released his amazing, nine-track mixtape Purple Evenings that simply blew us away. But Jerry Folk wasn’t nearly done there. Just around a month ago, he dropped off a handful of silky edits that includes his rendition of Post Malone’s “Rockstar”, an original track "This Feeling" and more . Today, Jerry added one more to that collection, his flip of Jeremih’s 2009 massive hit “Birthday Sex”

Jerry Folk does an amazing job of putting a modern spin on a classic, sensual R&B slow jam. Right off the bat Jerry hits you with some heart pounding kicks along with a funky little bassline that will force you to nod your head to the beat. The groove and familiar melody stay the same, but with a slightly increased tempo, making it even easier to dance to. This short but sweet track should easily hold you over until the next Jerry Folk drop. Enjoy!
