PREMIERE | Maddy O'Neal Recruits Manic Focus On Funky Electro Soul Collab "Light In Your Eyes"

Maddy Oneal Manic Focus

Today we're excited to be premiering the latest track from Maddy O’Neal, which comes in the form of a collaboration featuring Manic Focus. Maddy and Manic both reside in the soulful, funky side of electronic production and their sounds come together effortlessly on “Light in Your Eyes.”

“Light in Your Eyes” was one of those tracks that just came to together magically piece by piece. John and I have worked together before but only doing remixes for each other so it was cool to put our minds together on this one on an original piece” - Maddy O’Neal

“Working with Maddy is always awesome, but our artistic chemistry on "Light in Your Eyes" was special. She threw down a nasty composition that I really vibed with, and the result is a fun, energetic track that shows how well our styles flow together. Whether you're sitting poolside or on your way to a music festival, this is definitely a cut that you'll wanna bump this summer.” – Manic Focus

We last had the pleasure of featuring Maddy on the site for her “Viral Love” collab with Marvel Years, and today shares her proper follow-up to her 2017 EP, and it was well worth the wait. Both artists come together effortlessly here as the soft vocals kick off the track that evolves with layers and layers throughout, adding in melodic keys, undeniable vocal chops, punching percussion and glitchy synths alongside soulful horns tying it all together. Be sure to catch Maddy on her tour, see dates below and grab tickets here. Enjoy!

Emancipator Shares Dreamy Downtempo Remix of Manic Focus’ “Stochastic Resonance” Ft. Statik

emancipator manic

Oregon’s own Emancipator never fails to impress us with his characteristically serene signature. With his classically trained background and a healthy 12 years honing his production style, he consistently stuns with dynamic releases combining glitchy, downtempo beats and velvet-smooth instrumentals such as violins, guitars and more. This style and a wide range of global influences came to life on Baralku, Emancipator’s most recent project that we had the pleasure of premiering the title track off of.

Today Emancipator follows up that album with a remix of Manic Focus’ dreamy “Stochastic Resonance” feat. Statik. Although he maintains that undeniably chill atmosphere Manic Focus created on the original, he takes things in a trippier, psychedelic-esque direction with other worldly chords, shuffling percussion and one of the best uses of scratching that we’ve heard in a while. It would be nearly impossible to describe each of the moving parts of this remix, from the alien breakdown mid-track to the subtle use of vocals, so it’s best you just take a listen down below to get the full effect. Enjoy!

[PREMIERE] Manic Focus Delivers New Remix For Liquid Stranger & Mr.Bill’s “Frankenskank”

Manic Focus Remix Art LS
It’s been a while since we’ve shared any new music from Manic Focus. The last time the Chicago-based artist's’ name graced the site was for his electro soul singles “Stronger” and “Habit” which dropped earlier this year. But today, we have the pleasure of premiering yet another brand new Manic Focus track, this time in the form of a remix of Liquid Stranger & Mr.Bill’s “Frankenskank”.

This latest Manic Focus offering comes as part Liquid Stranger’s brand new Weird & Wonderful Remix EP. Starting out with some vocal chops and dub-inspired drums from the original, Manic Focus boosts the tempo and adds his own unique spin on things. Abrasive growls, distant vocals and some bright playful synths take the track in-and-out of lighthearted progressions and dark, bass-heavy drops.

Having teamed up in February for a sold out show at Washington DC’s 9:30 Club, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see some more Liquid Stranger x Manic Focus shows happening in the very near future...but we can only hope.

Liquid Stranger’s hand-picked, five-track remix EP is now available to stream and download via his label, WAKAAN. Check out Manic Focus’ remix of “Frankenskank” below and enjoy!
