FKJ Collaborator Masego Shows Off His Funky, Jazzy Sound On New Single “Lady Lady”

masego press

Masego is one of those musicians who can simply do it all. Just name it - saxophone, keyboard, drums, singing, rapping, producing, and plenty more; it’s clear that Micah Davis was born to write and play music. His entire catalog is worth a listen, especially his brilliant, live, improvised collaboration with FKJ, and his album with Medasin. Today, Masego celebrates his 25th birthday by adding another jazzy piece of music to his discography with the release of his brand new single “Lady Lady.”

After watching Masego perform, it’s easy to tell that he is the absolute king of swag, and this new track perfectly encapsulates his “lady’s man” persona. It’s funky, it’s provocative, but above all all, it simple puts a smile on your face. A perfect tune for a summertime afternoon, get ready for the vibes to flow as soon as you play “Lady Lady.” Enjoy!

FKJ & Masego Share Incredible Live Studio Video Of New 8-Minute Collaboration

FKJ Masego

The two talented producers/instrumentalists/vocalists FKJ and Masego are the latest to meet up at the Red Bull Studio in Paris, and they shared a glimpse into this session together. According to FKJ, who is from Paris himself, they went into it without planning anything and just kept playing music together for the entire day. The video they shared is an eight-minute improvised jam from their day and it is incredibly impressive.

The two are continually looping different instruments, beats, and effects with precise transitions to create this unique jam together.  The way they simultaneously incorporate guitar, drums, saxophone, keys, and vocals creates a sound much larger than just two people. It's incredible to see how easily these two artists can communicate without using any words; it really feels like they've been longtime bandmates.

The session never stays in one place for too long and it's amazing that this high-quality output wasn't planned as an official release ahead of time. Here's to hoping we'll be hearing some more from what sounds like an incredible collaborative session in the studio. Enjoy!

TDE Artist SiR Shares 6-Track ‘Her Too’ EP Ft. Anderson .Paak & More : Soulful R&B / Hip-Hop

SiR Her Too Artwork

Top Dawg Entertainment’s latest signee, SiR, has just shared a new 6-track EP title Her Too as a follow-up effort to his Her EP released last fall. As the latest talent to join the ranks of Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, SZA and more, the LA-based artist shows us he’s one to keep an eye on.

TDE cryptically teased an artist singing before officially unveiling SiR as their latest addition with his music video for EP single “W$” and quickly followed it up with a second single “Ooh Nah Nah” ft. Masego. With the whole project out now, we’re really excited for SiR to be a part of the TDE team. His hip-hop leaning, instrumental-based R&B sound is just so smooth. He grabs slick beats filled with live instrumentation allowing his grooving singing to shine.

Tracks like "Sugar", "Canvas", "Ooh Nah Nah" and "W$" bring a soulful, relaxing R&B vibe showing off his songwriting abilities as many moments in these songs are irresistible. An early standout on the project is “New LA”. This amazing track features none other than Anderson .Paak, who proves to be a perfect match for SiR as their sounds fit together so well with King Mez closing out the song with his verse. “Don’t Call My Phone” is the song that sounds most different from the rest with it’s funky instrumental and vocal effects reminiscent of Frank Ocean on Blonde. In case you missed the first part of this EP series, stream Her as well below and enjoy!
