Megalodon Drops Massive Remix Of GRiZ’s “Wicked"

Griz Megladon

With a name like Megalodon, it comes as no surprise that the Los Angeles-based producer has made a name for himself making heavy, bass-fueled tracks over the past couple of years. The artist made an appearance on Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats Compilation 1 and has teamed up with JAUZ to create a massive future house/dubstep track titled “Shark Attack.” Today we’re excited to be premiering Megalodon’s latest release, a massive remix of GRiZ’s “Wicked.”

Megalodon’s take on “Wicked” preserves the jazz-influence of the track, maintaining the brassy horns that introduce the song. Instead of the more laid-back, funky drop that GRiZ fans may be used to, however, this remix absolutely takes it to the next level production-wise. Megalodon incorporates a pounding bassline and one of the best uses of video game-like synths that we’ve heard. The bass builds upon itself throughout the track, taking the production to newer, more powerful and more intense heights with each passing second.

This premiere is part of a massive release: It joins 39 other songs to create a 40-track EDC Las Vegas 2017 Compilation launched today by Insomniac Records. The offering is designed to give fans a glimpse of what they’ll see at EDC in 2017.

"I took a step away from my normal routine on this remix. Since the original had such a prominent melody I felt that I needed to focus more on melodic side to due the remix justice. That being said I'm quite happy with how things turned out. I have been closing all of my sets on tour with this remix for a while now and the crowd reactions have been amazing. - Megalodon

The compilation features songs spanning genres of all kinds, including Slander and Basstrick’s massive trap/bass house collaboration “Drop It,” NGHTMRE and Ghastly’s collaboration “End Of The Night,” and much, much more. Stream the “Wicked” remix below and enjoy!

Zeds Dead Releases 9-Track Deadbeats Compilation 1

ZD Press Shot Deadbeats
Yesterday (Feb. 9), Zeds Dead shared Memorecks' single "Raging Dreams" off their label's first ever Deadbeats compilation. Today we have the nine-track compilation in full for you to stream and it features some of our favorite artists.

It features a wide away from artists coming from all different genres which makes sense as Zeds Dead has always been known for sharing all sorts of music with their fans. Their Northern Lights EP is the perfect example of this. Artists part of Deadbeats' first compilation include Rezz, Pusher, Nebbra and his single "You", SMLE, Megalodon and several others.

We're also gifted with a brand new song from Zeds Dead themselves called "Women Wine" and it's absolutely fire. It playfully starts off with a cork pop before entering a reggae-based sequence that transitions into gritty dubstep synths grinding against one another. As the song progresses, it only gets heavier so be sure to listen until the very end.

Zeds Dead's Deadbeats imprint hasn't been around for all that long but based off their debut LP the release of Nebbra's debut EP and now this diverse collection of tracks, the future seems bright for their label. Stream volume one in it's entirety below and enjoy!
