Whenever TSIS favorite Minnesota pops up on our radar, we know we’re in for a treat. Still riding the success of his recently released Curio EP, today we’re excited to have the pleasure of sharing a brand new premiere of the Berkeley-based producer’s new track, “Snake Charmer,” which comes with the exciting news that he's launching his own label.

If you’ve caught a Minnesota set recently, you know just how hard this new single goes live. Characterized by warbling flutes, eerie chanted melodies, gritty, pulsing synths and powerful, non-traditional percussion, Minnesota continues to prove how versatile his production really is with this Egyptian-inspired bass filled banger. And if new music wasn’t enough, Minnesota has announced that with this latest release, he’s launched his very own label, Outer Realms. Check out “Snake Charmer” below and make sure to keep an eye out for new releases to drop on Outer Realms. Enjoy!

Minnesota Delivers Bass-Heavy, Experimental New 5-Track ’Curio’ EP

Minnesota curio ep

For over seven years, Christian Bauhofer, aka Minnesota has been solidifying himself as an absolute powerhouse bass-music producer. Having continued to grow and evolve his sound throughout five EP’s and numerous standalone singles, today the Berkeley-based producer has released his brand new, full length Curio EP.

Characterized in its entirety by deep, distorted bass, snappy percussion, lush synth sweeps and highly detailed sound design, this latest offering is sounding like some of Minnesota’s most cohesive and cinematic work to date. Starting off slow with some lighthearted bells and an obscure vocal sample explaining the death of a star, Minnesota sets the tone for the EP via the juxtaposition of powerful bass drops, slow melodic transitions and vibrant, percussive breaks on the EP’s intro track “Edge”.

Throughout the following four tracks, listeners are taken on a sonic journey through space and time with the never before heard, drum-centric single “Technique” as well as the return of previously released single “Dark Crystal” and a DnB VIP version of “HiLow”. Although Minnesota’s unique sound has come quite a long way from its original characteristics, his current hard-hitting production style has already solidified him performances at numerous upcoming spring and summer festivals. Check out Minnesota’s Curio EP below and enjoy!

Minnesota Shares Eerie Bass-Heavy Trap Single “Dark Crystal”

Minnesota has impressed us again and again over the years with his bass-heavy production style. From synth-filled drum & bass to intricate chill trap, the Berkeley-based producer has always pushed the boundaries of his music. Today, he’s continued to do just that with his brand new single “Dark Crystal”.

Minnesota fans will note that the sound design on this latest offering has quite a similar feel to the into melody on his most recent single, “HiLow” (and definitely hits just as hard). Filled with eerie distant wailing, bouncy stabbing synths, deep warbling bass and fast-paced drum breaks, you’ll definitely want to turn the bass up to 11 for this one. Check out “Dark Crystal below and make sure to catch Minnesota on tour (dates here). Enjoy!
