Today we have an awesome collaboration from the likes of Dion Timmer and Modestep that we're pleased to be premiering. The collaboration is titled “Going Nowhere” and is a hard-hitting dubstep tune released via Monstercat.

Timmer last landed on the site for his chill original track “Cyan” and takes a more aggressive direction on this one, making for the perfect pairing alongside Modestep. The song starts off with a metal inspired build with vocals repeating “Going Nowhere” until the snarling Dubstep drop takes over with high energy and impressive sound design that will surely get your day started on a high note. Enjoy!

Monstercat Announces Split Into Two Separate Brands: Instinct and Uncaged

Monstercat Instinct Uncaged

Independent record label Monstercat, a Canadian label that’s helped shape the careers of musicians like Bassnectar, Seven Lions, Marshmello, Kayzo, Robotaki, DROELOE and more, kicked off 2018 with a massive announcement this week. In an unprecedented move that recognizes how diverse electronic music has become in the label’s six years, Monstercat will split into two distinct brands, Monstercat: Instinct and Monstercat: Uncaged, in 2018.

According to Monstercat CEO Mike Darlington, Monstercat: Instinct “represents an important development in the tastes and interests of the Monstercat family… Instinct will develop the unique stories of our artists worldwide.” From the teaser video linked below, it appears that this side will explore the more laidback, melodic subgenres of electronic music. Artists Didrick and Adam Young of Owl City are confirmed for releasing music with Instinct in 2018.

On the other side of the spectrum, Monstercat: Uncaged will continue the vision that Monstercat was created with back in 2011. “The combination of live events, bass music, and gaming laid the groundwork for our deep love of electronic music. Uncaged allows us to heighten the focus on these core elements to create a compelling experience for our community,” Darlington said. The Uncaged teaser video, also linked below, drives that idea home. Artists Gent & Jawns and Darren Styles are confirmed to join Uncaged in 2018.

As one of the most powerful forces in dance music, Monstercat is certain to do big things with both Instinct and Uncaged. We can’t wait to see where these two brands take things in 2018; for now, check out the teaser videos below. Enjoy!

[PREMIERE] Savoy Drop Uplifting Single "How U Like Me Now" feat. Roniit

Monstercat Savoy How U Like Me Now

Brooklyn-based trio Savoy have dropped their latest single “How U Like Me Now” featuring vocals from Roniit as they continue to progress their sound. The track is released via Monstercat and is premiered here at TSIS.

“How U Like Me Now” was a really fun track to write. Once we had the baseline and the main melody down, there was so much energy, we knew we really had something. We originally played the song out on tour with a demo vocal that we had written and were stoked to see such a wild crowd reaction on a more melodic song. Then we connected with Roniit and she wanted to write on the tune, we were super excited because we had just become familiar with her amazing voice since she had the top sample pack on Splice at the time. The second we heard her vocal demo, we instantly loved it and knew it was the one for the track. We were able to meet up with Roniit in Denver when she was in town resurrecting her epic conversion van (sometimes available on Airbnb) and ended up finishing the track together over about 30 pomplamoose la croix’s. - Savoy

“How U Like Me Now” is high-energy from the start with persistent synths and powerful piano chords. Roniit’s angelic vocal performance is then introduced backed by steady percussion. The track picks up momentum with a piercing lead, a compelling bassline and engaging hand-claps. “How U Like Me Now” is eventually dropped into a unique bass-filled track with down-tempo percussion and melodic synths. Savoy and Roniit’s sound come together extremely well on this track and the result is amazing. Enjoy!
