[PREMIERE] Oliver Share Funk-Fueled Remix Of The Knocks & Captain Cuts' “House Party”

Oliver The Knocks

LA-based production duo and funk masters Oliver are back with a vibrant new remix that we’re happy to premiere on the site today. This release comes on the heels of the artists’ 15-track album Full Circle, a stacked offering that pays homage to all things funk and branches into other genres, as well. Today Oliver have shared their disco-driven take on The Knocks and Captain Cuts' bouncy single “House Party,” and it’s sounding great.

"One of our favorite bands, Kano, was the main inspiration on this one. We had a lot of fun just taking it back to the basics and making some disco." - Oliver

From the old-school synths and deep bass chords to the awesomely cheeky cowbell, this remix will take you on a funkified journey from start to finish. The duo lead with a stark beat and the familiar spoken vocal sample from the original, masterfully blending in layer after layer of groovy production and live instrumentation from there. The many moving parts and overall disco-tinged vibe of this remix will no doubt get you moving – check it out below and enjoy!

Oliver Share Funk-Fueled ‘Full Circle’ Album Feat. Chromeo, De La Soul & More

Funk fans rejoice – LA-based duo Oliver’s groovy new album, Full Circle, is officially here! With a disco/indie dance/funk-infused 80s style of production that will never go out of style, these two have been on the scene for quite some time now. We first featured their Mechanical EP back in early 2013, and they’ve gone strong ever since with lively originals and remixes for Madeon, Jack Ü and more. Now Full Circle is here, and it’s safe to say we’re digging it.

This extensive 15-track project draws from influences all across the board and features guest appearances by artists like Chromeo, De La Soul and more. While many of the funk-fueled tracks exude an old school 80s vibe that we’ve come to love from these two, like “Chemicals” feat. MNDR, “Love Like This” feat. Leon Else and “Heart Attack” feat. De La Soul, many of the others take risks far beyond what we’d expect. There are pieces that take a more ambient approach, like the dreamy, delicate title track “Full Circle,” and others that take things harder and heavier, like the electro-style “Ottomatic.” And if the project wasn’t impressive enough already, Oliver played each and every instrument heard throughout as opposed to rely on samples from others. This thoughtful touch creates a crisp, clean sound that resonates through any speaker.

From its pulsing basslines to the groovy, dance floor-ready synth melodies, Full Circle is a stellar blend of nostalgic and refreshing works. Check out the project in its entirety below – enjoy!

Listed by many as a highlight feature on Skrillex and Diplo’s chart smashing Jack Ü EP, the radiantly charming “To U” collaboration with UK songstress AlunaGeorge has received a remix package chocked full with crafty renditions from some notable dance acts.

Cooler than cool LA-based duo Oliver inject their eclectic fusion of indie styled synths and spry french-house rhythms to produce an airy take that both tugs on the heartstrings and fits the bustling club format.

Losing yourself to the majestic feels is an added occurrence, and expect to hear this one played out on numerous occasions in the coming winter months!
