Opia

PREMIERE | Opia Shine On Emotive New Indie EP 'Beverly Blues'

The rising group Opia  has been a TSIS favorite for years now owing to their raw musical talent and ability to explore a diverse soundscape that mixes electronic and acoustic elements. Last year you may have caught them on a string of impressive tracks with Louis Futon, Ekali, and Whethan, or on their dreamy six-track EP Faded. These productions were heavily electronic, but today Opia turns a new leaf and dives into their more indie side with their latest work, the four-track Beverly Blues EP.

The project begins on a funky note with an energetic title track that channels rock influences that fans of Two Feet or Louis Futon will love. “Four Winds” carries forward the retro vibe with its surreal, layered vocals woven between plucky guitar riffs. “Strings Attached” is an emotional, acoustic ballad that lets Cole’s vocals shine over a mellow production. “Twidfy” closes the project on a slower, soulful note.

Be sure to check out the project below, this is a special one. Enjoy!

Whethan Shares Funky, Emotional New Single “Aftertaste” Ft. Opia

Whethan 2017

If you’ve been keeping up with TSIS over the past year, you know we’ve become big fans of Whethan. Ever since we introduced him to the site for his debut original single “Can’t Hide”, the 18-year-old producer has continued to impress on some fantastic collaborations with the likes of Charli XCX, Mascolo, Elohim and of course, Oliver Tree. Today he’s continued his streak of incredible releases with a brand new single, “Aftertaste” featuring the exciting rising group Opia

Featuring some production and vocals from Connecticut-based group Opia (who you may recognize from their recent collabs with Ekali and Louis Futon), we’ve quickly realized that Whethan and Opia sound awesome together. While this latest offering starts off slow with some delicate, emotional vocals it doesn’t take long for some soulful piano and distant bells to quickly throw the track into a powerful chorus filled with skittering percussion, funky guitar and bouncy, distorted bass. Whethan is heading on European tour with Louis The Child early next year, see dates below. Enjoy!

Louis Futon Drops Powerful Guitar Driven Song "Restless Sea" Ft. Opia Via Foreign Family Collective

Louis Futon restless Sea

Louis Futon is seemingly unstoppable. He’s been on an absolute hot streak this year and keeps up his high level of output with another incredible new single “Restless Sea” featuring Opia via ODESZA's Foreign Family Collective.

"I’ve been a fan of Opia for a long time and met DJ and Cole when I moved out to LA. I wanted to combine both of our sounds to make something big. This song turned out to be a personal favorite of mine, I’m a sucker for massive guitar riffs though." - Louis Futon

Louis has stayed busy with some incredible singles lately like “Royal Blood” alongside Keiynan Lonsdale and he seems to always be working on music with his beat challenge videos we’re big fans of. Opia proved to be a perfect match on this new collaboration as they bring out the best in each other. The guitar-laden track combines gritty and smooth elements effortlessly throughout. The slick vocals are paired with crackling, yet lush production highlighting a swelling metallic synth and huge, abrasive guitar riffs that combine in a way that works perfectly. The track has an epic, energetic drop flawlessly pairing cinematic vocal chops with the coarse guitar work and distorted horn jabs. Enjoy!
